A big football story with limited coverage

This story is big for English Football League Clubs, but its not a story that you hear much about in many sport media outlets.

The survival of competitive English football is dependent on a deal, to me.

The UK Government should get involved with a Regulator who has real teeth.

Football is a very important part of the UK's economy and social fabric.

Obviously some owners are just focused on their own needs (maximising the value of their own brand) and not the interests of the wider UK population.

I also think having so much predictability as we currently have in football is not good for the long term interests of the game.

foreign owners ( of PL clubs & many of their UK counterparts ) don't care - at all - for non PL football, they don't want relegation, they don't want competition, they just their - franchise - to make them money..
It's not just foreign owners. There's a good chance Gibbo would have knocked the deal back had we been up there, and there are plenty of clubs with foreign owners who have backed it.

I did say many UK owners too, remember Freddy Shepherd saying it will just be PL in a few years.. he may not be wrong.. Gov need to step in & sort it - that won't end well..

The whole system needs overhauling. I’d like to see every league keep its own TV money with a percentage of every pound spent by all clubs going into a pot for redistribution through the EFL. That way the teams who spend more, contribute more to the teams at the bottom. It would need to be done fairly so it’s not worse than the current system but I think it would end some of the arguments we get every time there’s a new TV deal.

There should only be one league, with different divisions. There's no reason why the top flight should be in a different league.

There's little between the PL clubs outside the top 8 and those at the top end of the Championship. For the likes of Palace and Forest to vote out of short-term self-interest is just asking for it to bite them in the ass.
There's already a disparity in PL finances compared to the rest of the worlds top divisions so redistributed wealth won't really hurt them, particularly if it's done in order to keep lower level clubs in business.

Unfortunately championship football is further down in regards to media coverage than the womens premier league despite the larger attendances.
