A first for the Olympic Games

It is a certainty that technological advances have played their part, particularly advancements in doping tech, but it's the hair man, the hair. To prove my point I give you duncan goodhugh

Except he took on the top Americans at a meeting shortly after the Olympics and beat them all.
True - it was less than 2 weeks later in Koblenz. As mentioned in the Grauniad article below, one of the Americans actually came over to Wells after the race and told him:

“For what it’s worth, Allan, you’re the Olympic champion and you would have been Olympic champion no matter who you ran against in Moscow.”

Allan Wells wins 100m gold in Moscow

Actually on a serious note the spikes used with carbon fibre plates are probably to blame for better performances across track and some field events.

Runner/driver with Merc designed shoes/car just wins.

FFS nobody tell Zorro that Hamilton is involved in cheating again............

🤪

The second most populous nation gets its first ever track and field gold medal.
India I guess? I reckon per head of population they must be the worst Olympic nations by some distance. They’ve got hockey and, erm, that’s about it

I wonder how Alan Wells felt; winning gold in Moscow but it always seemed to plague him that he only won because the USA boycotted.
See earlier posts - as they mention, Wells beat all the top US 100m sprinters less than two weeks later in Koblenz and one of the US athletes actually stated that Wells would have won no matter who was in Moscow.
