A summer of short form cricket

We only had 6 tests last year, one against Ireland and 5 against Oz.
Yeah, they started earlier though didn't they? Its quite rare for it not to get going until July, but even then, the two series we have this year aren't quite as appetising as an Ashes series.

There'd have been more ODIs last year I'd guess.

Doesnt he normally play the first couple? I tgink yccc said hes down to play 4 this season , brooks down to play 3

I think the fact he's available to play in the Blast is also a bonus, normally test matches/ODIs would be underway in May/June.

They did start earlier.

It's like watching any sport though, you play the better and poorer sides than yourselves, and I quite seeing what other countries have to offer. It's a shame that the matches aren't spread about more evenly around the country. Three of the 6 are in London.

Yeah I will look forward to the tests. But it just feels very odd having the World T20 in the middle of (our) summer even though its not in England.

The Ashes were accommodated for The Hundred.

Now people can say what they want about that but it has got my son bang into cricket! He thought it was boring, but has now bought into every format, and is even playing it.

We have been to loads of the games and it’s brilliant. Players are far more accessible, as it’s contracted to sign autographs at the end. It’s cheaper for us all to go as a family.

The ODI in Durham this year is a Tuesday in late September; highly unlikely it’ll be on and can’t get out of work for it and kids back at school. Ridiculous

Yeah that’s a shame.

As much as a lot of older people (well, adults) might not like to admit it, the 100 has actually fulfilled most of its purpose, which was (to make money and) get more children interested.

One good thing about the focus on IT20 cricket this year is that I am going to get to see Root playing for Yorkshire again.

He will probably have to introduce himself to most of the team as it has been quite a while since he played. I wont get into why he didnt play in our relegation deciderr a few years ago,
He was playing golf instead. An absolute disgrace. Other players went back and played for their counties but Root and I think Bairstow did not. Is that not when Bairstow got injured or am I getting mixed up with another time.

To be fair to Bairstow he did have a broken leg at the time

I don't mind T20 though Test's are the best form of cricket - Limited over's internationals are good - though I hardly watch any domestic limited over cricket the 100 is just shambolic & a vehicle to get both mens & womens game on at the same venue on the same night - increase exposure / participation of womens game - MCC / Sky / BBC carbuncle of a game.

As somebody who has grown up with the county game and have always supported the county team being asked to follow a franchise side with whom I have no empathy is a non starter. The 100 therefore for me is not an option.
