Akpom to WHU £18m?

Want the window to close? You should be praying it stays open for an extra month the way we’re going. We need 4 senior players and a week before the season starts we could be having Matt crooks up front coulson at left back and our 4 best players are gone. I’m surprised people are not panicking because we should be

I think most of us hope he does. I just think if he was going to sign he would have by now. Cant think of any real reason why he wouldn’t have if he really wanted to.
I think it will depend upon two things; whether he gets an offer that's appealing to him (both financially and the stature of the club) and whether he is willing to sign a new contract if he doesn't.

The club won't allow him to leave for nothing next summer, although I suspect that's what he's aiming for.

If we're in the PL by then, great, he'll sign as a PL player and if not his options on a free transfer will be much bigger.

Talking to a Sheff U scout last night , who got a call saying N’daiye has been sold , he then told me not to spread it as it is not out yet ( fans don’t know )
He then said they want Akpom and Archer , which could now happen .
Archer isn't leaving Villa. Too much of an asset for them.

I honestly don't think we were in for Giles at £5m .
I think we will get a starting LB this week .
To Samba
I can see SU having a list of no10 's with Akpom at the top and Zian Fleming next , but Millwall will want good money for him too so negotiations will be going on . Archer on loan would replace N'diaye , Ramsay would be an upgrade on Jebison ( who I like BTW )
£18m for N'daiye will be reinvested IMO.
I'm amazed Akpom hasn't been linked with the Arab league yet. Even Jack Hendry has gone there .
Millwall’s record transfer out was George Saville!

I think he's doing the same thing Tav did last summer - keeping his cards close to his chest and waiting to see if a Premier League club comes in for him.

He's probably not pushing for a move behind the scenes, and if nobody comes in for him before the window closes he will probably sign a new contract. Maybe an agreement has already been made that he can leave with the club's blessing if we receive a decent offer.

It's a frustrating situation and we just have to hope it doesn't end with a club making an offer we can't turn down late on in the window, meaning we have to sell him but won't have enough time to replace him.

It is a frustrating situation. I think it's pretty clear he's not signing a new contract this summer.

That doesn't necessarily mean he's leaving, but if a big enough offer comes in then he probably will be. The injury doesn't help either.

I suppose in an ideal world it wouldn't affect other recruitment too much, we still need a striker we must have several targets we're going after so you'd expect us to try and progress those regardless.

But it sounds like we probably need the fee and that may affect what targets we go for? Although that doesn't really track with the fact we were apparently willing to spend approx £10m+ last year on Archer or Strand-Larsen.

Feels like something has changed in terms of how much we can or are willing to spend compared to last season.

Our four best players are gone?
Firstly they were not our players and were always leaving in the summer, also Archer came in January, and Ramsey signed at the end of January.
Yes we are weaker now than we were in February, but I think Carrick and his recruitment team will sort it out before September, plus if we are there or thereabouts this January, we may find another couple of gems available for loans.

Three of our 5 best players are indeed gone (Archer, Ramsey, Giles).
Akpom is likely to go (too late to replace) and otherwise is supposedly injured.
Howson is injured.

Smith and Dijksteel are both injured.
We have no left back. The prodigal son is injured too.

Of course it is true that we may strengthen before the end of the window, but tick tock Mr Scott.
