Alex Gilbert

When he signed I got the impression he was going to feature more often . It’s nice to see someone get a shot on target from outside the box . He’s next seasons Roger’s but one wel be keeping as we’re going up next season . 😎👍

Just to highlight that he may could have been played more. Gilbert showed more today in a footballer that I like than Greenwood. It’s just my opinion.

I don't think Greenwood has done well in many games since the turn of the year, although I do sympathise with him that it can't have been easy for him being asked to play as a false 9.

Putting that aside though I'm hoping we don't sign him on a permanent deal, and hopefully Gilbert's recent performances will make the club even more reluctant to sign him.

Greenwood had a great October-November, beyond that he's really struggled to make an impact.

He's has had about 2 half decent games this year, for most of the rest he's been virtually anonymous.

He's been one of our main attacking players and has managed a single assist in 2024, you can make it 2 if you count taking the corner for the own goal.

Greenwood has played 994 minutes in 2024, starting 11, and has 1 assist, and that was on the 13th of January.

Gilbert has played 122 minutes in 2024, starting 1, and has a goal and 3 assists.

He's a loan player as well, so the poor return gets even more frustrating when one of the players he's kept out of the side keeps popping up with goal involvements in limited appearances.

Good first half of the season though and overall not a bad first full season in his career.
Gilbert has had one good match against a team that had largely checked out for the summer.
Hopefully they can both kick on next year.

I wouldn't be signing Greenwood permanently.

Not fussed if Greenwood kicks on or not. Doubt he will be with us.

Maybe not, but no reason why he can't continue to improve. Given us some good memories regardless (Leicester, Sunderland in particular) if we don't sign him up.
 
The lad has regressed over the last 6 months, not improved, some of his more recent games he looked like he couldn’t be bothered frankly, case of too much, too young maybe. Even for £1.5M he isn’t worth a punt, carrick has improved many players but he hasn’t managed it with greenwood.
