Anyone else sick of living in England?

How do you jump to that conclusion ? Its just a matter of fact that fees and student loans were introduced by a labour government and suported by yhe whole labour party led by Tony Blair.
Thatcher had long stopped being Prime Minister by then. And how many labour MPS voted for student loans and fees ? - just about all of them. So its a bit rich saying it was right wing doctrine.
More of a fund raising policy to waste money somewhere else.

To put the excusenik jibe back to you then you are using Thatcher as an excuse for labour party policy

The philosophy that was
heralded in by Thatcher is still with us. Blair had no interest in changing it and had enough New Labourites to push anything through with support from the Lib Dems and Tories.

David Blunkett United Kingdom Secretary of State for Education and Employment 1997-2001 introduced tuition fees of £1000 a year

But yes you blame Thatcher who left Office around 10 years earlier

I am less tolerant of those who just whinge and moan because they can't have their cake and eat it and only see fault in where they live; the despairing of "South London" for example.

Am I "the despairing of South London"? :ROFLMAO: I suppose I must be, don't think anyone else mentioned south, and to be fair I don't mind that as a nickname.

I always referred to Blair's government as "Tory-lite" and I've seen nothing to make me revise my opinion.

No you're not Stu, I did mistakenly think it was SmallTown who had posted south london and my post was indeed aimed at him.

I have to say if I had the option I'd move immediately to Australia or NZ. I know a few that have gone out there and life is just better.
In England I'm sick of the negative attitudes, the bad weather and chavs everywhere.

A mate of mine who moved to Oz and came back again after a year.

Believe it or not, among other things, he was sick of the constant warm weather, and 'aussie style' chavs everywhere :)

Also, I don't know where you live exactly, but there are places in the UK where there the people are actually nice and chavs are few & far between.

I recommend the more remote parts of the Scottish and English Border 👍.

I'm with Aet on this one, I'm just sick of living. Setback after setback. No hope. All exits blocked. Wish something would take my life in my sleep.
I don’t feel like that but I do feel increasingly alienated as time progresses and there’s will come a time, and I can feel it coming, when I will feel completely irrelevant in this world. The world that I have known over the last 60 years is disappearing.

Depression is an evil thing to have to live with. I feel the same as you, most days, but I have to say my earlier comment on this thread was largely said for effect. I blocked the main contributor to this thread a few weeks ago so I can’t read his utter BS and the petty arguing about politics is just irrelevant really in the grand scheme of things when compared to people’s happiness and mental health’s

I do find it incredibly difficult to be positive about life, and I am saddened at the state this country is in under Johnson. We are deeply divided in a way that we haven’t been since the days of Thatcher. At one point in my life I did want to move to Australia, i went on holiday there 3 times in the 00s and I would have loved to have gone on a working Visa but by that time I was too old. I didn’t have the money in my 20s. Anyway Take care mate. Look after yourself

You are right about priorities Aet.
I dithered and dallied over moving to Aus too and am now too old for that.
I'm lucky I have regularly holidayed there, but you know, as much as I still love WA, it is not better than North Yorkshire.
I'm not sure we are all incredibly divided, at least not on everything and I still think there is so much to enjoy rather than merely endure.
Hope you and Scubahood can see it that way too, I sincerely do.

Yep, had enough of this place over the last few years. Sweden is the target, language learning underway and applying for jobs at the moment. If that doesn't work I guess we'll wait for the next indy ref and up sticks to Scotland.
