Anyone think houchen will get back in?

It would be a one of the biggest shocks in electoral history if given how much Tory central office and Sunak himself (in PMQ’s today) are backing him the Dark Lord didn’t win by a sizeable majority. We have become completely apathetic on politics and scandal. Nobody is bothered anymore. The days of the Poll Tax marches and the people rising against a clearly corrupt government are well gone. Most people will vote Bent based on the airport that the vast majority won’t even use. The rich farmers, who tell us Brexit has ruined them, have got Conservative Bent’s election boards up in their fields I see. Houchen will win with 60+% of the vote and his Tory friends and himself will be become even richer men. As I say , not enough people care.

There's enough Tees Valley folk turned off by Houchen sufficient not to vote for him. The problem is not all of them will vote for the Labour candidate. It's a 3 horse race in which only 2 have a chance. I'd love to know who on here will not be voting for Chris McEwan just because they hate Starmer.

Ditto the PCC election where there's only two on the ballot paper. One of which has a police caution for handling goods stolen from his employer 🤷‍♂️

Houch will get back in. Many on this board feel they are the word, sorry folks, there are many out there voting on Houch.

His face is currently plastered all over the TAD Center in Berwick Hills around the main entrance and lobby area. Every window has one of his campaign posters inside and out including the window to the receptionist's office. He's going to be a hard shltstain to shift I think unfortunately!
All a bit Orwellian isn't it? And a great example of the power of propaganda.

Unfortunately too many of us are far too easily influenced. Not necessarily due to intelligence but because of what information we're exposed to and how interested we are in it.

Unfortunately politics is a topic most aren't really interested in, but like to pretend they are because it's a great excuse to have a moan.

Isn’t the TAD centre owned by the bloke who has just purchased the M&S store in town? No doubt taking advantage of the freeport benefits. I wonder if anything else has been offered in exchange for the prominent free advertising.

He gets back in then Labour gets the NAO to do a complete review of the Teessworks scheme.

Then what.........🤔🤔

Yes he is, also as the councillor for the area, the Tad centre is probably the quietest of all the buildings in that area.

I've just seen the prickly pear has reopened there - it was great when we went before it closed but I think I'll swerve it based on the reviews going up about it now

But yes when we went we were the only ones in there

All I have seen is a flyer about Chris McEwan and nowt else, he's really not selling himself. I know Houch has Q+A's on FB and takes the time to answer where he can. Nowt like from the other candidates.

There was a "Vote for Chris McEwan" banner on the Gazette website the other day, ironically enough.

Steve Gibson needs to publicly support him, that'll sway a few voters. Not enough to just host his campaign launch (which was sadly overshadowed by the same Tory slimeballs that accosted Angela Rayner in Yarm.)

Houchens FB is full of lickspittles and fawning groupies, absolutely categorically refusing to accept there has been any wrong doing by him with the Teessworks scheme.

Because he's "not Labour" they think the sun shines out of his ar*e and he's going to single handedly (as a labour of love) redevelop Teesside following 40+ years of neglect.

Just don't mention PD Ports, Cornet or Musgrave.......these didn't happen.

If other candidates do nothing and say very little what would you expect from people. What Houch has done/not done has not affected my every day life one iota.

The Facebook posts are cringe.

'We love you Ben!'
'Great work Ben!'
'You are best thing that's ever happened to Teesside.....'

But it does.

Millions being siphoned out of the public purse into the Teessworks scheme.......could pay for an awful lot of public services.

NHS services, doctors, nurses, SureStarts, the homeless, crumbling schools......

If you aren't affected by any reduction in public services you are very lucky, and fair play. But there are an awful lot of desperate people not so lucky.
