As it stands now how would you line up v WBA

If we register a player for the Championship, can we deregister him if we loan him out or sell him in August?

I know the young players don't count as squad players.

I assume that registrations close for contracted players when the transfer window does, you can sign 'unattached' after that though, so if he is registered with us at the end of August, he stays with us.

Plenty of clubs (more in Europe though) sign players and immediately loan them out to feeder clubs etc.

I highly doubt that rule is allowed but even if it was , Smith wouldn’t agree to it. Say he plays a game for us and then signs for another team and barely gets in their team he’s played for 2 teams so won’t be able to sign for a third. That’s enough to put him off that type of deal anyway.

If he isn’t signed to a contract with us before Saturday I will take that as his future is elsewhere, hopefully not, good solid cover player. I think he will be signed.

Totally agree there is little incentive in it for him, he could do his ACL in his first minute.

I was more curious in the 'can' he.

Obviously plenty of clubs further down the pyramid play trialists, but is it a no go at the higher levels? You would think that the transfer window registration limitations would mean that it is impossible?

Yeah I think it’s impossible. He would have to be under a proper contract I would say.

I'm not 100% but I'm certain I've noticed it on soccer Saturday, Jeff always makes a joke out of 'A Trialist' scoring or being red carded etc. I would assume if it is on Soccer Saturday it is some sort of league game not a friendly.
