Average Boro Players Who Could Have Been Great Under Carrick

I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking there’s a good few players we’ve had in recent times who would have been better had we played a different style or had a different manager at the time. Couple that come to mind as having been average but could have been great if they played for us in the last season:

Balogun, Harrison, Baker, Nathan Wood, Patrick Roberts, onel Hernandez, Sporar

I still don't see much in Patrick Roberts tbh.

I take it you mean Lewis baker rather than Steve? I'd question that too. He's done ok at Stoke, but I think he's just one of those players who hasn't kicked on from his early promise. I think the issues are his, not those of the manager.

I'll add Ledesma though; I thought he had loads of talent but only showed it flashes, and the qualities to play in MCs system. Whether he'd ever have the consistency I don't know, butC would be they guy to bring it out if he did.

Billy Woof - could have been a genius and played for England.
What Carrick could have done...... (y)

Young Anthony Ormerod. I got him in the England squad on Championship Manager after I signed Lee Hughes!

Ledesma had bags of ability. He was one of those rare players who could see passes you didn't even realise were on from watching sat in the stands. Had a great run in the team at the end of Karanka's first (half) season.

Think I read somewhere that his biggest issue was his stamina. Struggled to last 90 minutes. Wasn't due to a lack of professionalism, by all accounts he was a good trainer, more his body just letting him down (some underlying physiological reason or something?).

His ability was never really in question though.

Some good shouts already on this thread.

I think Vossen would have been perfect the 10 role in way Carrick likes to play and would have got more out of him. A very talented player.
