Ayling

Surely talk of Leeds going back for him is just ridiculous given the big deal that was made of his departure in January.. that looked pretty terminal to me.

It’s clear he wants to play games and rightly backs himself to perform well at the top end of the Championship.. which all points to a shiny new deal with us!
I can't see Leeds going back in for him. He was clearly told he wasn't remotely wanted.

That said I've been reading some crackers stuff on Facebook from Leeds fans. Many want Farke out even if they go up. Plenty of comments about missing an Ayling 'type' during the pressure of the run in.

They have 90 points and still not happy 😂. That said one win in 5 must feel like you've 'blown it'

The thing is I agree with them. Farke is a poor manager.
I think the Leeds squad got to the playoffs despite farke.
Let’s hope he gets a new contract 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I'm another who was wrong about him. Thought he was a bit of a t*t (he isn't) and Leeds fans assured me his legs had gone.

Serves me right listening to Leeds fans 😂

Reminds me of Howson a bit. He no doubt has lost a bit of pace, but he was pretty quick to begin with so it doesn't matter that much (not at championship level. He's no slower than Smith).

Like Howson his decision making is top drawer. He was the number of assists he does not because he's constantly rinsing the opposition left back, or has a wand of right foot. But because he nearly always picks the right option.

Also seems to complement Jones really well. Jones does have the pace, but decision making isn't always the best. Between the two of them it's a really effective right hand side. Shades of Albert and N'sue. Potentially better.

Festa.
Listening to Leeds fans ?
Come on fella…do you want the number for the Samaritans ?

I was at best lukewarm about him signing, then unimpressed as he settled, but he has been a smashing loan.
I now really hope he gets a permanent contract, it's rare to see a bloke play with so much joy. Top bloke.

In January I thought he was a sensible and pragmatic stop gap signing that made sense due to Smith's injury, but couldn't see us signing him permanently.

His early games he seemed very sluggish and I wasn't overly impressed but hoped it was a fitness issue and once match fit he'd improve.

His comments yesterday would suggest it was perhaps his own confidence as much as fitness as he said something like he was nervous at first having not played regularly for so long.

Since he got up to speed he's been excellent and thoroughly deserves the offer of a permanent deal. It'll be interesting to see what we offer him given the policy of only giving Howson a year deal for the past few years. I'd say Ayling is worth the offer of a two year deal though.

I do wonder whether Leeds might come back into the mix with an offer if they fail to get promoted, especially given his recent form for us.

This. I thought that Anfernee could rekindle the partnership that he an Jones had previously (Inc. a certain "Tree") but when he did get his chance he looked so out of form it never happened. I think the Jones + Ayling combo works brilliantly, let's get that contract signed toot sweet.
