I think religion will die off at an exponential rate, pretty much linked to how fast each nation develops. Within 50 years it may pretty much be gone in the developed world and 100 years in the less developed.

The internet should basically be the end of all bull****, and a faster access to facts and reality.

A good example to watch will be when you see how fast religion disappears in the likes of Dubai etc, as they give up on oil and gas they basically have to move to being a travel hub and they're only going to be able to do that by adopting westernised ways, which is exactly what they've already started doing. Qatar, UAE, Saudi etc are all changing their "rules" extremely quickly, the places are massively different to 30 years ago.

Education - & have RE as a forensic history lesson not theology & teach about all the different gods & analyse their evolution & demise plus dissect key fable from fact alongside scientific questions & reasoning.

That's very much the GSCE syllabus now ........ or at least the IGCSE syllabus that my daughter studied at the international school was, and I can't see the GCSE one now will be much different ?

But that's not just caused by religion, thats the abuse of power. People with power have used it to control and subjugate those beneath them for millennia, and almost without exception always use the idea of something bigger than the individual to control the masses. Be that socialism, nationalism or religion. It's not those things themselves that are the problem, but extremism in how these things are promoted.

some people who have posted on this thread have a very weird view of what 'God' is - i can assure you he is not a magician, nor a conjuror , nor does he give children illness' and humans diseases & cancers.

Quite right this, parents know that their child is going to fall of their bike at some point but let them have one anyway. This is what God does.
