Boro 2023 Accounts

If the club have made a loss before taxation how do they owe any tax?
I have very limited knowledge of financials, i.e. none, but isn't the figure in the "tax on loss" row a positive figure? Indicating a rebate or tax allowance rather than payable tax.

The loss figure reduces below it as well.

Yes. You are correct. Why accountants can't use + and = like everyone else is beyond me.

Clubs are allowed to make some losses and Steve Gibson has paid these through his businesses. It reduces the profits on those busineses which they would have had to pay corporation tax, so the subsidy is not as big as appears to his businesses. Say £5m subsidy from Bulkhaul is £3.67m to Bulkhaul if they would have paid £1.33m tax on the £5m payment.

A key stat in the accounts is that the revenue is rising faster than the costs of running the club.

So I read that as roughly an 18m loss.. From an FFP perspective, much of that will not count towards FFP because it will be not directly related to footballing activities. So Yes, still losing money, still fairly ok FFP, still need a viable long term solution as a club....prem league cash.

With gibbo writing off much of the debt, we probably need just one year in teh prem and we will be financially clear again, as long as we don't spend daft money like Forest.

Gate receipts, same value as broadcasting income.
And this with a third of gates receipts earned in cup games for the year.
These accounts cover last season, not this one. So this just has Barnsley and Brighton. Good point though, our gate receipt income and commercial income should be up with our cup runs on the next accounts, probably by a couple of mill.
