It was Fischer's 50th yesterday, so what better way to spend it than watching the highlights of the 87-88 promotion season while having a beer or two with him and Miniature G. Who knew that everyone got so annoyed at us spending £200k on Trevor Senior - there were people asking where their bloody money was from the liquidation if Boro were spending transfer fees. Tyne Tees approached Gibson; this was the result.
Anyway, one of everyone's of a certain age favourite Boro games that year - the promotion clash with Villa on Valentines Day, live on ITV. Yes, a Division 2 game, nationally broadcast on terrestrial telly.
Discussion turned to whether this was the first ever time Boro had been live in full on the telly.
Secondly, what was the next Boro game that was live in full on the TV? Was it the Chelsea game in the first Premier League Season on Sky? A rotten 0-0 draw on a Friday, complete with Sumos and the Sky Strikers?
And when was the the next time we were live on terrestrial TV? I have vague memories of the Stockport League Cup game being on ITV, and I assume the Chesterfield semi was on as well?
Anyone?
