Doubt that is the reason. That would be reasonable but I would guess that getting kids wearing adult sizes sooner is the reality. Presume it is to satisfy sponsors rather than because it is more profitable (think they make more off kids kits than they do adults because they, shamefully, don't pay VAT on kids kits but do charge fans as if they do).The sizing of footy tops is brutal these days. They're cut for players, not fans.
I admit I'm not a small person. My usual T-shirt size is XL, and over the years I've come to understand that that means XXL for footy shirts as they often cling. But in recent years I've never come remotely close to fitting into those sizes of Boro shirts and would have to buy something way bigger. XXL barely goes over my head. Bring back Adidas!
The sizing are idiotic, the retail part of the club is shocking.. can’t believe how hard it must be to be this bad!Doubt that is the reason. Again, you wonder if other clubs whose shirts are made by Errea have these sizing issues. You’d expect them to but who knows.Another problem with the sizing being so inconsistent is the insistence on only selling shirts from the club shop.
So for fans who live away, and we have many:
- you have to get a shirt delivered
- at unreasonable cost
- and it's a complete lottery as to what size to order, so increased inconvenience.
Not that the club give much of a stuff about anyone who isn't a ST holder.
It is very odd.Again, you wonder if other clubs whose shirts are made by Errea have these sizing issues. You’d expect them to but who knows.
Just checked through a few of my past and present Boro replica shirts - either XXL like this season or XL Hummel. But I have either XL or XXL in earlier Boro shirts too.It is very odd.
Not going to happen obviously (as it's MFC) but an accurate sizing guide would help.
Although that would possibly shine a light on how ridiculous the sizing is.
Sounds like 5'10 and 12 stone would at least be an XL in errea land.
Don't Adidas tell you the height and weight of their models or something? Could get a load of big lads in from north Ormesby to do a bit of modelling.
And that takes us back towards postage costs because there’s a sense that they encourage people to check the website in the knowledge that they’ll inevitably order them online… and be charged an extortionate amount of delivery costs.I fully understand that some things are out of their control, but I went in at the start of November to ask about the training tracky bottoms in junior sizes. I was told that they did not have an exact date they would be in stock but was assured it would be before Christmas. I think we all know where this is heading and yes, they still haven't got them in. I asked if I could pre-order them, and was told no, just keep any eye on the website and that will be updated when we have them in stock.
As others have said people are desperate to spend money but there are so many obstacles put in the way that in the end people just give up and go elsewhere.

Errea supply their generic shirts into the promotional market through the biggest wholesalers in the UK with no stock issues. It might be that Errea are partly to blame but they aren't the only supplier into Boro and the Boro seem to be the common denominator.Again, you wonder if other clubs whose shirts are made by Errea have these sizing issues. My guess is they aren't lazy, they are cheap. We have the lowest service level offered for everything. We use competent suppliers and services but are getting the equivalent of the free but ad-riddled service when a small monthly fee would improve service levels for customers. Just means we're at the back of the queue for re-supplies.Theres literally no reason why the Boro can't define the tagging of the shirts to suit the local demographic in terms of sizing.
I used to work with the Portuguese company that supply the F1 pitlane shirts to McLaren and they specifically label their Team Principal to US sizing as he's American.
My main takeout is that the club are lazy and anyone who is a professional tends to move away from the club, like the Emmerson brothers did.
