Bournemouth gonna bid 10 mill for Tav

He's up there as one of the best young (23 and under) central midfielders in the champo. He has his limits, he's very one footed, and didn't score enough last season, but his career is a goal every 7 starts, about 6 or 7 a season.

Contract, or lack of time left on his contract, is the main driver in the fee. If he had 2 years left we would surely be asking double, however in the circumstances 10 mil is probably about right.

I'd love him to stay but the move makes sense for all involved.

**Edit, just seen elsewhere in the thread he is meant to have 2 years left!

This is the 2nd thread you’ve used whoscored after dismissing it about Connolly early in the season 👀

If he has one year left then its a no brainer if he isn't signing a new contract. If he has more than a year then there is a decision to make. He could be a big player for us next season if he is committed but at the same time the money COULD make a bigger difference to the team if its spent well.

AFC Bournemouth FFS ?????

Worked out well for Tomlin; what was it he said when he signed for them ? 🤣

Wonder if Tav also thought, (when he was there on Good Friday), wow, I can only dream of playing at a club/set up like this in the Premier League 🤣

it may surprise you to hear.... a lot of players have loved playing at afc bournemouth! and some of them have been pretty good

I like Tav but I've always said his lack of an end product could prevent him from becoming a top player. I think £10m is a decent fee for him.

If we do sell though, we need to make sure we bring in a player with a good engine. Tav does a lot of good work off the ball and we'd need to make sure whichever player comes in will be able to do the same.

I don’t think £10m is anywhere near enough. He’s 23, a key player of ours and worth more. PL teams will pay premium prices for young midfield talent. We must NOT undersell if we have to let him go.

As I said, he's a good player at this level but at 23 I'm not sure he is going to develop that much more and become a much better player.

If he was 19/20 then I'd be saying hold out for more money, but I'm not convinced he's ever going to develop into a top player due to his lack of end product.

Serious question: How can anybody seriously think Tavernier should be worth £15m, if they don't think Gyokeres is worth that?
Would anybody be happy spending £10m on Tavernier if he wasn't already our player.

One thing is clear, the Club seem very capable of getting good prices for players.

I'm fairly ambivolent. If Tav stays fine, he is a very hardworking decent player and
If he goes then I don't think we could afford not to replace him with quality, and he will generate a huge profit for the club.
Like Ben Gibson, Stewy Downing, Adam Johnson and others before him I would wish him the very best.

I'm guessing there was an auto extension clause that hasn't been widely reported previously, but has been triggered by the club....I did hear that rumour 6 months ago for both Tav and Fry.

I like Tav like many have said and would recommend to him that if he wants to leave it should not be to AFC Bournemouth. They will be back in the Championship after next season.

I don't believe that I did dismiss whoscored at all. I accept it doesn't capture everything, and it's very limited for players that have lots of sub appearances as it really hampers their stats. If you want to show me the thread rather than some paraphrasing out of context attempt to undermine me or my point, then I'll happily respond. I do remember a thread where I espoused the danger of looking at one metric as a measure of ability, it may have been that thread and I stick by that, and in this case that overall player rating is an amalgamation of many metrics. It's not perfect, but it is indicative.

If you look at the stats in detail, it shows that he has some of the best defensive and attacking figures in our squad, it doesn't capture things like work rate very well, or how they initiate the press. I stand by that Connolly isn't anywhere near as bad as our fans claim, he will score goals at this level when he recaptures form and confidence.

Ultimately though, you are playing the man not the ball with this line of response.
