Brighton win in the Ajax Arena.

I think it's an indication that Brighton are better than they used to be in the 70s and Ajax are not as good as they were in the 70s.
And the 80s
And the 90s
And the 00s

Me too.
Or what has been the FINEST team in Europe have been beaten home and away by a team that was almost relegated from the football League.
Money Uber alles.

Ajax spent over £100 million pounds in the summer. No wonder the poor bairns are struggling with such a tiny budget.

I thought we were 'the finest team in football' and a team recently in the Conference pipped us to promotion, despite the millions we've spent?

Anyway, it's just football and as you mentioned, in the main it's Money Uber Alles.

A team from a much bigger country and much bigger league beats a team that they should be beating.
Brighton's resources dwarf Ajax's, regardless of the historic size of the club or their domestic support.

You wouldn't bat an eyelid at Celtic or Rangers losing to a Premier League side, this is similar, though the Dutch league is obviously better than the Scottish one.

Brighton are a really good side. To think they constantly sell best players and lose a manager (Potter). They have brought in 100s of millions in transfer profit.

That's some 'model'. Yet never seem to skip a beat. Just stick to the same process and style. They are a joy to watch. I'm a Boro fan and happily watch them as a neutral on sky. Always give the 'Big 6'(used loosely) a game.

When they hammered us in the FA cup they looked like we were playing Barca 😂.

I doubt anyone could have predicted our two clubs paths after that 1-1 when we won promotion. I still think Brighton and Brentford are an example to how things 'should be done'.

I remember going up to the Riverside from London to watch the game against Brighton when we got promoted. On the way back I was sitting with a group of Brighton fans on the train who were drowning their sorrows. They were a decent bunch and shared their booze with me. When we got off at Kings Cross I went on a pub crawl with them. I reassured them that Brighton would be in the Premier league before long. Funny to see how fortunes change.
