Backward step that. Times I have seen him playing for Norwich he has looked slow and easy to beat at this levelI'm wondering whether we might get Ben Gibson back as he is out of contract with Norwich in July.
Is that a workable idea?
Wonder if Gibson would fit Carrick's style and approach to recruitment?
I'm not sure how/if he would fit into the Carrick ball and it isn't something I am particularly wanting to happen, it just seems like a very typical Boro thing to do.Backward step that. Times I have seen him playing for Norwich he has looked slow and easy to beat at this level
Not good enough for us.Is that a workable idea?

Good luck to paddy, great servant and played some fantastic games, remember how he just about coped with the Coventry striker in the playoffs last season…so versatile and fabulous attitudeLooks like he is off to Rangers?
Wonder where he will end up. I think the chances of him returning ended a couple seasons ago.I'm wondering whether we might get Ben Gibson back as he is out of contract with Norwich in July.
I think you're right. Carrick wants a certain type of player, especially the younger ones whom he can mould and coach - along with the "senior" pro's who are like mentors. They do say never go backwards. Not for me, I'm afraid.I'm not sure how/if he would fit into the Carrick ball and it isn't something I am particularly wanting to happen, it just seems like a very typical Boro thing to do.

And Ayling as coverRav, Clarke, Fry, Lenihan - I don't see us signing another CB as a priority.
He was our player of the year in 2021-22 so to call him a stand in defender and imply he was nothing but is ungracious and unfair. He was signed because of his goal scoring exploits from midfield. Proved to be a second rate midfielder (being generous) but a good stand in defender
