Canary Islands Advice please

It’s funny spending a lot of time here, it’s a small island so everyone tries to know everyone else’s business (they don’t know ours). A lot of locals say ‘we don’t go to the beach cos we live here’ or ‘we don’t go to the tourist restaurants cos we live here’ but we don’t get that, they’re great and it’s nice to be here in Jan/feb when all the silver surfers are here, but it’s also nice to be here in August when the young families and screaming kids are here (nice when they leave again too 😁). It’s like the seasons in the UK except it’s not the weather that changes it’s the people.
😅You are spot on there!! I have lived in Playa Blanca for 10 years, full time, everyone is nosey!! Like you say why not go to the beach or sea front restaurants?? Isn't that what we live here for, to enjoy living within a few minutes walk from the coast, fresh air and outdoor life, I don't get it neither. Summer can be noisy but you can't beat the winters out here.

How long is it since you left? Bet you’d see a big change.

Left Boro in 2003, moved south with husbands work. Left UK in 2007 and lived in the middle east for 6 years, moved to Lanza 2013. We have had a villa here since 2010.
I haven't been back to UK since, doesn't sound like we are missing much to be honest.
It changed so much when we lived there so guess it's gotten worse.

Finally here in PB, there’s a beautiful marina, the town is 15 minutes walk from there which leads into the port area. Loads of nice bars and restaurant. For me the best bit is that if you walk from the marina at one end All the way to the other end of town it’s about three four miles with bars and restaurants but it’s sea front walkway all the way, no roads, no traffic, nowt and you can keep walking further past hotels and then open space for another four miles again all on a seafront walk no road. In January we had 27degrees for three weeks solid. There are also Sandy beaches.
Yes that marina is lovely.

I'd go for Puerto Rico in GC, from there it's a short boat hop to Mogan or Arguineguin or a bus ride round the corner to Anfi for a quiet coral beach.

The centre of PR has some lively spots easily avoided. I do like the beach though, which is why I favour this area.

Turkey has some decent weather in October as does the Algarve and Costa Blanca and further south in Spain. We holiday in October just about every year and not been disappointed with the weather.

Port of Mogan in Gran Canaria is quaint, lovely and the warmest part of the island. It is the next resort on from Puerto Rico. 👍. Book a hotel there, you won’t regret it 👌
You weren't wrong, currently in Costa Mogan, just south of Port of Mogan.
The weather is incredible and amazed by the lack of wind (unless we hit lucky with a calm spell). Normally get thoroughly wind blasted in Furtaventura/Lanzarote.
👍

just been there , 43 degrees, stifling, didnt think much to it

Off to Playa Blanca for two weeks this Friday. This is about my 20th visit. Princess Yaiza, guests not very friendly. Volcan, unusual design but not much character. Cay Sun Beach more friendly and the cheapest of the three.
Princess Lanzatote is our favourite, very friendly, lots going on and five minutes from the lovely Playa Dorada beach.
Been to Tenerife x4, Fuerteventura x1 and Gran Canaria x2 (very LGBT).
On Lanzarote agree with most others Puerto Carmen (Blackpool), Costa Tequise (bland).
Puerto Calero, quiet and very posh. Had a great trip on a yellow submarine there.

We went to Playa Blanca loads when our kids were young. Stayed at the places mentioned, other than the Yaiza(great location, but is it worth the extra money?).
Curious about the mega hotel that has recently opened just along from Playa Dorado towards the marina. Anyone been/going?

Corralejo, Fuertaventura.

Costa Teguise, Lanzarote

Costa Adeje, Tenerife.

All pretty decent 👍

Got back from Corralejo yesterday. The weather was glorious and I didn’t notice any wind, although there must have been some as there were plenty of kite surfers. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I found myself actually wanting the wind to build up a bit, on occasion, to help cool down at the beach and water park.

Like the canaries we have quite a lot of windy weather.

It was the same for me this summer right up until about a week or so ago. I hate playing golf in the wind. I normally say I prefer not to play if it is 8 m/s or more. I was putting up with 10-12 m/s to try to keep cool when playing golf.

Opens in December apparently. Still needs a lot of work doing… mostly landscaping
