Carlton Morris - In your head Gesture to Mowatt

Did anyone else see it the other night? After he scored the penalty that was never a penalty he pointed at his head and I'm no lip reader but said something along the lines of 'We're in your fu**ing head '

Does it run that deep with Luton? Because even after the other night I don't think our lads will be worried at all about them.
yeah I saw that, I thought it was classless, but also wondered what the hell he was on about. Seems desperate to try and drag us into something that isn't there.

Luton fans on twitter seem to think they are promoted already. If we get to play the final against them, we have all the motivation we need.

He rested two very important players knowing he had at least three key players missing, you say its not a huge chess game so there is no tactics involved.

No, I’m not saying there’s no tactics involved. There clearly is.

But making out that there are some huge mind games going on is nonsense. Carrick is just managing his squad game to game.

Of course there is a bit of not showing his hand. They will look at that game and expect us to play that way....but it's likely that 4 of the 5 across the middle would be different in a wembley final (if we both get there), they will face a totally different challange, more pace, more guile, more penetration and more movement than they did on Monday. so any plans they make may not work.

You think the only time they will have watched us is when we played them?

The motivation is a place in the Premier League, anything else is distraction.
Im not remotely concerned at the prospect of playing Luton again and I strongly suspect that all of the other teams in the play offs contention will be bricking it at the prospect of playing the team who have scored the most goals in the league and can go from being a goal down to ripping them apart in a matter of minutes
This is absolutely spot on.
We are not guaranteed to get there, or win it if we do, but I bet we start favourites and I'm certain other teams will be wary of what we are capable of.

Of course not, but, you learn more about match ups between players when they are on the same pitch,, than you do about hypotheticals just watching videos.

Their right midfielder will be thinking hope I'm playing vs Mowatt, he's not quick enough to get away from me...but he'll likely face Hackney and have a different proposition. Their RWB will be thinking that Bola is crap, but he could be facing Ramsay, or McGree.

Now you can argue the other way of course, but I think it benefits us more having more technical players. they played their best team, we know exactly how they will play against us. with the ball they'll get the fullbacks high and wide and look to play diagnals to the two big lads then out to the wingbacks and back in. Without the ball, they'll foul, pull, push, press aggressively.

I hope Ramsay is fit because he will be perfect to exploit the RCB/RWB space with the RWB so high.

Are we an arrogant team? An arrogant set of fans? We always seem to get this thrown at us. We had it from Norwich in the play off final for daring to sing we are going up before the match, Sheff United claimed we celebrated like we won promotion and Luton have been given the same out following the game on Monday.

I dont get it, surely all fans of teams in and around the play offs are doing the same? How can you not be excited by it and hoping for the best? Should we be chanting, We're the boro and we might be going up, but so might you' - Doesn't really get the blood flowing does it?

I think with Luton its small club mentality and just assume bigger clubs like ourselves are not taking them serious.

Because i am bitter i would now love to beat them in the final and put them back in their box!

I remember when we played Brentford in the playoffs and they had a huge chip on their shoulders about us. I think being such a small club they think we are arrogant and take it for granted that we will beat them. I think we will beat them because we are a better team, not because they are a smaller club.

Theres definitely some envy in terms of our resources, the attractive we play under carrick and our profile as a club with carrick from other smaller clubs in this division.

I still think theres a slight softness in our team which all the best championship winners never had wolves leeds and burnley all had that bit of steel to stand up and fight plucky cloggers like luton and every warnock side. I think teams like luton and Sunderland can sense that soft underbelly and play the dirty way they do. If we dont go up this year we need a bit of meaness addding whether its a big nasty centre back or a midfield playmaker like souness who can leave a foot in.

He was very smug after his dive and penalty and was clearly winding up a couple of our players.

Hopefully they can remind him of this when he's sat crying on the Wembley pitch in a months time.

Well, I’ve watched it a few times and he definitely didn’t say, ‘

we’re in your fcuking heads’

Morris being smug and sneaky essentially in the wrong game. The sneaky chunt will have been watched as well by the possible referees doing the playoffs and seeing his reactions.

Mowatt and him played together for Barnsley I believe (?) and therefore he I think he was saying something like ‘I picked the right team’ (difficult to make out but I watched it back around 20 times)

I don’t think Luton will get past a playoff rival over two games because they are bang average so I’m not expecting to face them at Wembley (if we can get there) but if we do play them then it wouldn’t surprise me if we blew them away and it was effectively over by half time, say 3-0 to Boro.

Does it run that deep with Luton? Because even after the other night I don't think our lads will be worried at all about them.

I know he's got 20 goals, but he was In a battle with a center midfielder who's playing Center Back at the age of 34 and was in his pocket.

Are they the ones rattler thinking our players actually care that much about them?
The ego's on some 'journeymen' players astounds me at times. It does what it's meant to do and winds folks up - me included I'm sad to say. I'm a big believer in 'what goes around, comes around' in the hope he falls flat on his ar5e one day. Probably get a penalty for that as well.

I can lip read. He actually asked Mowatt "Do you like my hair?".

To which Mowatt replied "It's lovely mate".

Nothing in it at all.

Im not convinced Luton will make the final.
me neither brilliant at defending 1 goal leads but that can't last for ever, but if we do get to the final ( we could easily lose out also) and meet them I think after that game on monday we will be in great place to beat them with our best 11 don't think we will need any additional motivation with what is at stake but think we will have lost any complacency we might have and do the job!

It might be just me but if I was a Boro player I think I'd take Monday night as a psychological victory. We played them off the pitch in the first half and although we lost the game the goals were from a set piece and a very dodgy penalty.

They were hanging on for dear life in the end against a reserve forward line, we didn't have Akpom, Archer, Forss, McGree Ramsey or Hackney on the pitch at the time and it was total backs against the wall for them.

If we played them at Wembley, we'd have Akpom, Archer and at least a couple more of the others on the pitch. It would be a far bigger pitch and they would have to live with our movement and quick passing in front of 40k Boro fans.

I hope Luton are taking Monday as a psychological victory because they might be lulling themselves into a false sense of security.

I wouldn't be unduly worried about playing them again if it happens. They are unbeaten in 12 though and third in the league so definitely competitive. I think that they would have a good chance of beating any of the other likely play off semi finalists over two legs.

I don't even think they would sell out their Wembley allocation one things for sure they would be media favourites despite their antifootball style

If we don't get promoted, then I don't really care who goes up instead of us. But I would not mind it being Luton just for the fact that no one would have predicted it.
