Watching the latest presser, Carrick mentions something thats struck a chord with me, and rings true for a few of our players for me.
When asked about Hayden Hackney, he says something along the lines of yeah hes good, a standout, but he’s only young and has a long way to go yet. Think this was in relation to the progression of his career and the possibility of other clubs being interested in buying him.
It seems to me that Carrick is actually genuinely interested in keeping HH (could translate into all the youngsters) and ensure he does progress more in himself, rather than look to ‘buying low, selling high in the short term’. (I am aware that HH is a product of our academy).
To me, this screams longevity, in both Carrick and the youngsters, showing that we may not just be looking to make a quick buck, but do have a vested interest in improving the youngsters.
Anyway, enough of my just-woken-up-and-talking-from-the-subconscious musings from me, more sleep needed.
