Change in Starmer’s tone

Agree with all the comments saying Starmer has been biding his time, to a degree. But I also think that he still missed a fair few open goals that would not have been damaging for him to take aim at, and I can’t completely let him off the hook for that.

He‘s got a way to go before he can convince those who, like me, have been frustrated by his tenure thus far.

That said, his more aggressive tone of late and the attack lines he is taking are certainly moving in the right direction for me and that gives me hope.

There isn't an election yet, so they don't have their policies yet, this is normal

You keep doing what the media tell you. They are the opposition, your choice is simply you either want this corrupt, lying, abusive government or you want a labour government with a balance between social policies and free market.

There is no socialism in this country, there never has been a drive towards socialism. There are Labour parties with some level of social policies but if you want socialism, you know state ownership of all production and markets etc then you need to start a party up for that, but that won't catch on. If you want a balanced free market economy without the corruption, and billionaires syphoning everything off then Labour are your people.
Having no policies after nearly two years in charge isn't normal mate. And I'm not the one doing what the media tells me to. The press have given Starmer a ridiculously easy ride because he's their man. He keeps f*cking up repeatedly but they just ignore that because he isn't Corbyn.

I’m not sure you can say Starmer is ‘their man’ in regards to the press.
That’s always been Johnson.

Even now, plenty of Telegraph journalists are simply ignoring the whole situation, rather than criticising ‘their man’.

Yes it is, no party in opposition would give their potential policies away years before an election unless they were radically against the party in power, especially against such a large majority.

You say Starmer gets an easy ride in the media, yes that's true when compared to Corbyn but not when you compare to other leading Tories and the PM. The main issue is that media barely mention what he does at all.

Take this week, he destroyed Johnson at PMQ's and then he was further destroyed in the liaison Committee but look around, it's nowhere to be seen if you're an average voter.

Any other time Boris Johnson would have been hung, drawn and quartered in the media for the above, but now it's nothing, just par for the course and all of last week will be slowly brushed under the carpet by a willing media spinning the truth.

Corbyn made them crap their pants because he was going to tighten up the rules about the lies that they're currently allowed to print. They couldn't do enough to get rid of him ASAP. Starmer is their man because they know he won't rock the boat.

it's entirely normal as they are not in power or in an election pushing for power.

Starmer is the presses man? Dear me, nonsense

Not sure what you're asking me here SmallTown? Do you mean which party or which Individual would have to be in charge of that party to get my vote?
Party I guess. You seem angry at them all, so GE tomorrow: who would you vote for?

it's not really corbyn specific, the media have often been in bed with the tories for a multitude of reasons. You can go back to the Kinnock-Thatcher battles and the red tops "it was the sun that won it" slogans for their largely right wing support

Everyone knew what Corbyn stood for from day one. Nobody knows what Starmer stands for. We just know that it isn't the ten pledges that he got elected on because he's ditched them all. And his sole purpose is to purge the left. He's doing a decent job of that last bit. Nobody that I know is going to vote Labour with him in charge. You really don't think that the press have given Starmer an easy ride? Seriously?

just noise mate, He stands for moderate politics, some sensible social services, but not to the point of stifling free markets too much.

To be honest though, standing for nothing is far better than standing for getting away with as much corruption for as little effort as possible, like Mr Johnson

Do you mean Starmer hasn't made any faux pas and hasn't got any activity that can be twisted around by the media, then yes. The press have nothing to get their claws into really, that's why he is getting an 'easy ride', if you want to call it that.

'Moderate' and 'Sensible'. You type stuff like that at me and a big neon sign starts flashing in my head that says 'Vote For Us And Nothing Will Change'. He's getting an easy ride because all he does is agree the f*ck out of The Tories. Because he IS a Tory.

Now you are just being silly. When the press point out that he has been on parties with russian prossie, has been funded by a hedge fund millionaire, sold sits in the house of lords for free holidays, and has given public money to his backers, then, and only then, can you start calling him a tory

We're going to just have to agree to disagree here fella. I'd possibly have a bit more belief in Starmer if he HAD been caught out cavorting with Russian hookers. That would make him seem a bit more like a real person. He looks like he's never shagged anyone in his entire life. He probably has moulded on plastic undies like my old Action Men used to have.

I'm fine if he has, I don't want to bone my PM, I just want him to restore some bloody strategic visions for the country

You SAY that but you WOULD want to bone the PM if Labour members did the right thing and put Zarah Sultana in charge and then she won the next election. You'd have to fight me first to get anywhere near her though. And I don't really fancy your chances in a scrap with the leader of the bumfaced clan.
