Christmas Parties At Work

What is your work doing instead of the annual Chrimbo Parties/ night out this year?

Don’t think we are doing anything but have been promised a day out at the races next summer all being well on a working day. Would be interested to hear what everyone is or isn’t doing!

Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, they knackered a good night out.

One thing I miss in hindsight is the privacy we had.

To be fair I have grown up in the current era and it’s all I know but would love to have been of age in the 90s to see what a night out was like then

You had to be careful when you ‘finally’ got home to make sure you wiped all the make-up and lippy off your clothes , neck . Golden rule was you didn’t wear a white shirt !
Monday’s were always embarrassing back in the office . 🤫

Must of been great though not thinking everything was gonna end up recorded some way or the other!

No mobiles invented and the other thing EVERYONE got wrecked and you only started to get ‘flashbacks’ during Monday At work . Everybody was very withdrawn and sombre 🤭

Yeah! And there wasn’t anyone sniffing around them sending Snapchat’s and messages all the time! All yours!

Supermarket Christmas parties in the 90s were awesome, I worked in a supermarket for the entire decade, starting in 91 when I had just turned 16 and left in 2000 with many a tale to tell.

Finish work on Wednesday. A few drinks (with meal!) when we land before travelling home. Will be a bit different to past years!

That's the big difference for me. In the 90s and earlier 2000s we'd have nights out and people would suddenly remember something amusing a few days later or you'd be puzzling over what had gone on, and possibly never get the answers.
To be fair most of my friends and colleagues are from the same era so wouldn't tend to pull out cameras all the time. We're just hindered by being older and sensible nowadays.

Company I used to work for used to spoil us at Christmas time, all free ...3 course meal and all drinks. a decent live band Detroit Emeralds, The Drifters, in the past they also raffled a brand new car x 2 £500 holiday and x 2 £1000 holiday vouchers, we also received as we broke up £50 M&S vouchers, Turkey a bottle QC or wine.

There was always some great stories of what happened when we went back to work😉

The company I work for now give us £20 :) cant complain.

My company had their Christmas party in January last year... I’ve been told many places do this but I’ve never worked anywhere that’s done this and i didn’t like it.

I liked the night out/party in the run up to Christmas in other places I’ve been. Obviously you this year would be different anyway.

To actually answer the question, work have said they will have the party “when possible”. So they’re effectively doing nothing this year.

We're having a virtual Xmas party. Young grads are organising it (fair enough I certainly couldn't be arsed) but the "activity" they've come up with for the first half of it is a decorate a gingerbread house competition. Which I definitely won't be doing.

Don't think it's landed too well with the other grumpy old gits on the team. On the up side though it starts at 1pm during work time and drinking is allowed.....🍺
