Derby Board

Even though Boro settled the issue, the fact it remains private will irk them too as now it gives the impression Morris has paid compensation in some way, leaving an air that is smelling of additional guilt, they can’t continue their vendetta that their plight being all Gibson’s fault without looking even dafter, although they will.

I just hope that they survive as a club with a new buyer, get relegated and that they don’t benefit in such a way that a new owner is allowed to spend significantly next season. That will be galling as it will mean the taxpayer has effectively subsidised Derby by a good few £M if reports re HMRC debt repayment being only 25% are true.
I dont think there's any doubts at all that morris has agreed to financially compensate Gibson/MFC is there?

if that is the case they should be wound up and ejected. It might mean an extra team from League One coming up like Sunderland the extra gates there will make up for the blackhole in HMRC accounts caused by Derby going pop

you wouldn't think so reading twitter, where some Derby fans claim that Gibson lost his bottle once Mel offered to go to the High Court 🤦‍♂️ I mean Gibson was in the driving seat he had chosen arbitration and would have continued that way.

They claim that because Mel out the in admin rather than pay any more money, then there is no way he would give Gibson any money.......thing is Pride Park is a valuable financial asset to him if he can find someone to sell to. But it's worth the land value, minus the demolition costs if he can't. So somewhere between 2mill for the land or 80 mill for the stadium. If he had to pay Gibson 5m in compensation to move the value from 2 to 80m then of course he reluctantly would. He's a chunt, but he isn't an idiot.

Any debt to the taxman is a debt to us all. The only way a smaller payment should be accepted is if the rest remains a debt payable over ah agreed period of time at whatever the inflation rate is year on year using compound interest on the balance owing too. No organisation should be allowed to escape tax it is state subsidy otherwise.

Thy are absolutely delluded:

- on the subject of why billionaires would get into a bidding war for the "plus for us we have biggest fans base in the efl"
- "If it's true that Middlesbrough fall foul of P&S rules can we sue them" - still parrotting an article that listed us amongst 3 clubs, that were being looked at but then only talked about the other two with absolutely no evidence put forward.
- "We have a bigger fanbase than Sunderland", "They built their stadium to big"
- "They didn't beat us they cheated", yesterdays 4-1 dubbing
- "The EFL piling in saying we deserve to be relegated" - the EFL have said no such thing.

It's just a flavour of the batshittery going on in their heads. It's hillarious to see a whole clubs fanbase lose all perspective on reality the way they have

Geordiesque. 🤯
I liked how their ‘bhoycott’ turned out to be selling out their allocation and pouring money into Steve Gibson’s pub!!

£3m, 3 Points, +3 Goal Difference.. THAT SHOWED HIM!!

I bumped into a Derby County fan who blamed me for how ugly his wife was, he squared up to me, threatened to shyt on my shoes.. then proceeded to fill my pockets with wads of cash. He ran off high-fiving all his mates saying how jealous I was off them all!

Typical Derby!

Initially my first thought was that Crooks' was a red to be honest, he did seem to lead with his studs. I winced as soon as Riley blew his whistle.

At the same time though, it looked to me as though Lawrence was headbutting Tav and seemed to do it several times, so on another day that could have been a red.
Did anyone see Tav squirting water at Derby players when the turned his back during that incident?

In fairness to Boro, I thought they had some serious quality today. Crooks was a player I really hoped we would be in for (back before admin).

With that being said, I do feel that they are in a similar position to us back in 2016/2017. A lot of big wages, big fees (perhaps not as much as we spent nominally, but adjusted for the weak market probably a similar amount). Furthermore, I can’t imagine they generate the sort of revenue we did, they’re not a small club by any means but they are a tier under us (in my opinion anyway).

I’ve always had my suspicions that they’re claim might have been FFP related, they lost eye watering amounts last year and they have spent big this year. I know they have a few assets with serious value, but I’m skeptical of some of the figures being banded around. Spence looks class but 10 million for half a season in the champ? Can’t see it personally, especially with the market still in a bit of a lull.

Maybe I’m wrong and they’ll come up smelling of roses, but somehow I think karma might be making its way to Teeside in the near future.
Saw this on their board - don't they realise that we have cut all our big earners, spent almost nothing (maybe Payero?), and posted a profit in the year before covid WITH the previously mentioned big earners?

The only issue I can see is the £35m loss due to covid, but that will affect everyone. I wonder how the EFL will handle that?

Beat them on the pitch, rinsed their idol Mel of some swag and all they have left now are bitter wet dreams of Boro failing FFP. I'd like to say they're not all like this in real life, but there is certainly a victim mentality in some of them. It always has to be someone else's fault on their board/Twitter.

Still., I'm having a great day at work...

For 2019/20 & 2020/21 clubs are allowed to add back any additional costs incurred because of covid as well as any lost revenue. So I would think that broadly clubs that would have been compliant without covid will still be compliant.

The following are extracts from the EFL financial fair play regulations.

EFL regs

1.1.2 Adjusted Earnings Before Tax means Earnings Before Tax adjusted to exclude:

(a)(vi) in respect of Seasons 2019/20 and 2020/21 only, COVID-19 Costs; and

(b) with effect from, and including the Accounting Reference Period covering Season 2021/22, profit/loss on disposal of any tangible fixed asset.

1.6 COVID-19 Costs means lost revenues and/or exceptional costs incurred by a Club that are directly attributable to the COVID-19 pandemic and that are identified and calculated in accordance with such guidance as issued by the Board;

1.10 P&S Calculation means, save as indicated below, the aggregation of a Club’s Adjusted Earnings Before Tax for T, T-1 and T-2.

covid loss can be removed from ffp calc apparently

Big wages:
- none of the big spulrge from 4 years ago left. I mean Howson is but his contracted was renewed on lower terms

Big fees, the only fees on our FFP calcs:
--Dijksteel about 400k on ffp calc per year
--McNair final year of transfer fee amortised this year 1.25m
--Fisher, 75k
--Bola 150k
--Payero 500k no bonus to pay yet
--Crooks 300k
--McGree 750k
--Boyd-Munce 100k
--Ikpeazu 200k
--TOTAL about 4m on ffp this year

Offset by:
--Saville 150k
--Morsy 250k
--Browne 100k
--Kokolo 20k
--Pears 100k
--Randolph 1m
--Bamford 1.7m (think it was 4 year contract)
--Gibson 3.7m (think it was 4 year contract)
--TOAL about 7m
