Derby meltdown?

Nine out-of-contract players have been training with the Rams in pre-season - Phil Jagielka, Richard Stearman, Ravel Morrison, Sone Aluko, Sam Baldock, Tom Carroll, Ryan Allsop, Curtis Davies and Andre Wisdom.

Derby are also keen to bring in Manchester United defender Teden Mengi on a six-month loan.

RAMS 'EYE EIGHT SIGNINGS'

Derby County could sign as many as eight players in time for their season opener this weekend, it is being reported.
well of those players listed Jagielka for experience and Aluko for creativity are probably the best they had a chance of signing and neither have. I guess there is the possibility of a first day reaction to the mess, and they could be fired up, but once that adrenalin goes, by about game 3 or 4 if they are still so short on numbers it could implode with some really big defeats.

Davies underhelming, been winfdding his career down at Derby for years, and not the same class as Jagielka. Allsop, they already have 2 keepers. Stearman, lower champ CB upper League One. Will do well for them next season

Tom Carrol is a good footballer - had a confusing/difficult 18 months, but showed very good promise at Spurs.

Andre Wisdom is competent at this level - decent full back

look to take the pair off em !!
Oh I didn't see Carrol, yeah, he's a decent enough championship player, I would think he will get snapped up. Wisdom we're stacked with RBs and I don't rate him as a CB

I wonder how long before McLaren takes over ,mI suspect results will come in to that but they may have a challenge to beat their own premier league points total, by Christmas that is . Even poor teams can grab the odd point here and there but records could certainly be set .
Maybe Mel caves first and gives the club away at best offer .

The opposite of course is somehow Rooney manages to create a "us v's the world" culture within the dressing room, keep the few players he has relatively injury free, and they pick up enough points to finish mid table.

Very unlikely I know, but similar to what Sir Bruce did with us in 1986.

Our 1986 squad contained players who would, between them, go on to win 5 Premier League winners medals, 3 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, a European Cup Winners Cup and 55 international caps (26 for England; 29 for Republic of Ireland).

I think they had a bit more about them than Brucie simply creating some sort of siege mentality! (And a lot more about them than Derby’s current squad).

I cant imagine anyone wanting to be near the place right now. They`ve allegedly got 9 out of contract players: the rest are kids or trialists.
They have no away kit this season [so far] and had to play their friendly at Notts on Saturday in their normal home kit [Notts had to play in their away kit!].
I wonder if Jim White will have the tasteless count-down clock on Sky till the Rams implode?

Derby announce three "signings"

Rams Add Trio To Their Squad Ahead Of New Season

Defenders Curtis Davies and Richard Stearman, as well as goalkeeper Ryan Allsop, have all signed one-year contracts as free agents.

The trio have been training with manager Wayne Rooney’s squad over the course of pre-season and featured in friendly matches.

Centre-back Davies, 36, needs little introduction to Rams supporters as he has spent the last four seasons with Derby. He racked up 104 appearances for the club in all competitions during that time after joining from Hull City in the summer of 2017, scoring once. He also fought back from a lengthy lay-off with an Achilles injury to help Derby preserve their Championship status on the final day of last season.

Fellow central defender Stearman, 33, has almost 450 career appearances to his name after representing Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Ipswich Town, Fulham, Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town to date. He was also part of the Sheffield United side that was promoted to the Premier League in 2018/19 and represented England at various youth international levels.

Allsop, 29, joins Derby after spending the last three seasons at Wycombe Wanderers and was a key member of their promotion-winning side to the Championship in 2019/20. Capped by England at youth international level, the goalkeeper also has Premier League experience to his name from his spell at AFC Bournemouth. He started his career at West Bromwich Albion and has also appeared for several clubs across the EFL.

The trio could feature in Derby’s 2021/22 season-opener at home to Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon (3pm kick-off).

They have a first 11 that is good enough to stay in the league, but they have an incompetent manager. Louie Sibley is a decent young player that I'm surprised no one has gone in for.

Sounds like this season will be “Silence of the Rams”.

I would generally agree but in this situation derby are the bad guy and karma is do it’s thing . Not the fans fault mind but derby have took an unfair advantage over other clubs in previous years even though it hasn’t worked for them .
