Djed Spence Value - Going Down With Every Report I Read

I find it hilarious that the more, and the bigger the clubs he is linked to, the less his price is quoted as likely being. In some quarters he has gone from £20M down to £10M.

Be interesting to see what he actually goes for, but if the list in that article were true, I ‘d expect it to be nearer £20M than £10M mentioned as a starter. I am not so sure the clubs mentioned are all clammering to buy him mind.

I also will be surprised if we get more than £10m for him. He's had one good season, and has arguably "failed" at both Fulham and Boro because of his attitude - any club worth their salt will be doing more investigation than just looking at his onscreen performances for Forest.

Its one source claiming £10m to £12m - myself I go on past figures for players like Webster from Bristol City to Brighton for £20m. Webster never played at under 21 level. His transfer was in 2019 prices have risen since then. Or Matt Cash £16m from Forest to Villa. Again he was not under 21 level. (Cash was £14 + 2m) Can anyone tell me where Spence is worth less and why.

Both players were slightly older than Spence but with about the same number of Championship games. If anyone at MFC took less than £18m in my opinion they should be shot.

Spence is not a Forest man - he is a Forest loanee.

Maybe the fact clubs know he doesn't want to be here means they know they can get away with offering less. We know he's not going to play for us next season so it's either we accept what is offered or we keep him, he upsets the dressing room and it costs us more in the long term. Rumours are most likely baseless or it's the agent pushing them. We will only get a bumper price if there is a bidding war.

I think clubs are just trying their luck and maybe agent talk. We really want 2-3 after him and bidding.

10mil for someone who is widely regarded as the 'best' RWB outside the prem is a f*cking **** take. Especially with the clubs who are being linked. They all have money.

I'd probably say 20mil is top end of what we will get. So I'd say 15 with various add ons is decent money for a guy who wants to leave and more so cost us nothing.

I know sell on clauses usually mean less of an upfront fee. You are basically gambling on him being a success. Yet just one good season in the prem means he goes from being a 15mil RWB to signing for City for 50mil+. Those ain't pie in the sky figures. One good season and an England cap and he's worth a fortune.

You wouldn't want to be sat here next summer and he's played 40 games at spurs and won an England cap without a sell on clause. You'd want 15-20% of that.

That said with the finances the way the are we'd probably take a bigger transfer fee. I have a feeling he's hoping forest go up. He seems happy and they could buy him and Garner (the lad from UTD?).

You'd have to say they have had better success with the loan system.

I just hope Boro fans are being realistic. I've read many saying we should throw the Spence money at a forward or two. I very much doubt that's how its going down. The large chunk will go on FFP (unless we sell more 'gems')

Teams look at more than just the players ability on the pitch, but also look at his background, work ethic and attitude amongst other factors - that'll have a impact on the price he goes for.

We're in a very very strong position regarding Spence. We turned down £12 million in January right at the end of the window so I'd expect it to be more than that after 6 more months of good performances.
We're looking between £15-£20 I'd imagine

15 with add ons. It'll only be less than that with huge add ons. There will be some hard bargaining to be had. I would be worried that if Forest go up, he'll only go there and then that'll drive the price down to what suits them

I wouldn't if some of the clubs that have been talked about (Arsenal & Spurs) came in for him, he'd be out of Nottingham quicker than Usain Bolt.

Is it fact that we turned down £12m in January for Spence? That could prove to be an error in many ways if true!

I think his attitude has probably improved, due to him playing regularly. He's been an ever present and played more games this season than any other and been much more successful. He now knows what it takes to be successful and potentially will continue to improve. Good luck to him. I think 15 million would be a good deal for us.

That sky sports German reporter can't even spell his name, Jedd! ffs.
I don't think he knows anything.

Spence doesn't want to playing in the Championship that does not affect his price, in my opinion. I doubt Webster and Cash wanted to be in the Championship neither. Thyey were not torn away from their Championship clubs crying and screaming.

How many quality young English players are available, currently in Championship PFA team, play for England under 21s and have 80 games under their belt at 21? possibly 2, how many potential buyers with large budgets - over 50.

Conclusion big fee.
