Do some of you think you might be slightly over-reacting?

A lot of everything is psychology when you get down to it. Do the young players he's brought in have it in them? Well, the young players he brought in last season did. Who can tell ultimately? It was bad today, yes, but Carrick deserves till at least Christmas. He had Boro playing the best stuff for years last season.

The problem being if the new kids on the block keep failing it could do untold long term damage to their confidence. Carrick has a duty to protect them and take them out of the team if they consistently playing poorly

We have replaced £50m of talent with yet more ‘development players’.
We have taken one point from 4 very winnable games. I’ll except West Brom.
It is the worst start in our history.
The play is ponderous and wholly predictable.
The recruitment is inexplicable. 3 left backs when we desperately need another striker.
We have recruited quantity over quality.
The club promised much in the ST blurb and have delivered zilch.
No we are not over-reacting.
Having said all that, I’ll be there at Ewood Park, again.
And still moaning

This is a big test for Carrick now, he has to find a system that suits the players he has to work with, and it doesn't appear to be the one we're using now is the answer - certainly not with the team that started against QPR. We certainly have enough to be well clear of the bottom three but we probably aren't going to be troubling the top six with this set of players either. A lot of the blame for this poor start has to go to the recruitment set up who have basically failed to deliver the quality needed to replace the talent lost in the summer.

The usual arguments. Accept some people are glass half full and some half empty, that's life. I'm not unhappy or angry because the club doesn't owe me anything but I'm massively disappointed in what I've seen especially yesterday after watching the Sunderland game beforehand - they were electric and full of confidence compared to us - a stark contrast to me.
Yes we have new young lads who need to grow but they are starting at a very low level and to me look like Div 1/2 quality which is what the Australian A League is. It's not about gelling or tweaking - they need drastic step up change in every aspect and I just don't think it's there. There wasn't one player to me in the starting 11 that showed they were going to make a difference. Hopefully Greenwood, O'Brien, Bangura will lift things - that's what I'm now hanging out for.

Every championship team we have played so far this season has looked much better than us. Better in defence, better in midfield and better up front. Better as a team and better individuals.
I really hope that we can start to gel the players together, but I worry that some just are not good enough.
Agree

Mum used to go since the ‘40’s, there was always a few whingers, just the same “sack the manager” every time they lost a few games. I’m not slagging anyone off, sacking the manager is one of the few powers fans have, it just takes months of misery and adversely affects results that are bad anyway.

He's not learning, we've made the same mistakes for about fifteen games, he stands watching the midfield get over run from the technical area with his finger on his lips like it's an out of body experience, and there's nothing he can do to change it. He has dropped McGree from the first 11, he thinks Rogers has the technique and awareness to play as a number 10, he thinks that after going a goal down at home to a relegation rival the best way to change it is to take your most lively striker and attacking midfielder off. Leaving one up top, he has done nothing to change our horrendous set pieces for the last six months.

I can accept the players being poor because of what we've spent. I can't accept a lack of adaptability, organisation and fight/effort. That comes from the manager.
Carrick's body language is awful. Worse than Southgate used to be. Stands there looking worried, rubbing his face, biting his nails, arms folded, that is not a passionate, motivating manager to me. If the players love him and are motivated in a different way then fine but the danger is that the young heads will drop like his seems to do in a game or just check out.

QPR didn't look better than us today. They just took their chances. We controlled the game for the majority of it and had the better chances. We just didn't finish them. They scored a worldie out of nothing that 9 times out of 10 ends up at the back of the north stand (although it's criminal that no-one tried to get in front of that shot). Then had ridiculous luck with two challenges ending up deflecting back into the path of the winger, then a block ending up back at the feet of their striker.

I swear that some people commenting weren't at the game today. It was frustrating as anything, but I can only remember one other real chance that QPR had (that break after they tried to hack Jones down). I went away feeling like we threw the points away by not taking our chances, not as though we'd been outclassed.

It's the results that need to improve, not the performances.

You think our performances have been ok? Wow!

Football is a funny old game.
If Jones passes to a red shirt when we had a 3-on-1 we probably win the game and everyone is raving about our recruitment etc.
Of course there are over reactions, it's what our fans do best.

to be fair to Jones, and I've been critical of him in the past, he played well at times today and for that pass I think he lost his composure after the attempt to scythe him down a second earlier, never really got his balance and ball under control properly.

So, want to tell me where I'm wrong with the points I made about today's performance? Or do you want to pretend that I said that we've played well all season.

I cannot possibly come to a reasonable opinion on whether this team is good enough after FIVE games including when some of our new players have just walked through the door. If we are bottom in a month's time then maybe so.
Exactly mate, yes todays performance was below acceptable levels, but that doesn't mean all performances will be. We got done by one mistake at home to millwall and huddersfield. could easily have won either game.

I am concerned at our defending, both individual errors and the team not defending as units, but I don't expect that to continue all season, I believe once we get the players bedded in, and knowing each other, we will start to move up the table. We don't have a problem creating chances and we won't miss them all season. It might end up being a slog of a season, but, there will be some signings that we will finish being pleased with and increasing value, some of them are probably the ones getting slated today.

As a fan I try and not over react when we play well, or when we play poorly, the hyperbole over the current form isn't really helping anyone
