Early Bird Season Tickets on sale

This is exactly the problem MFC has with such a great offer in the GRFZ.

Fans will quite happily pay the extra few kid for a 2nd child seat knowing they'll rarely use it (if ever) but it's available to them for all home games at such a very low cost. And once they have the ticket, then they'll be reluctant to give it up...until they're 16+.

I'm not judging the fans who do this. It's the problem MFC have created.

I have a distant family member who also has 3 tickets in GRFZ (him and his 2 sons) and yet only 2 tickets are used for most games.
The GRFZ should be extended, it’s a great investment in the future support, even if some of the kids don’t go much they will still be getting the bug.

Where can it be expanded to though? Its already eating up a good section of the East Stand and im sure they moved it beyond the North East Corner too at one point into the North Stand

Stick another tier on the East Stand 😁

We had planning permission to do it…

You just extend a version of the offer. It doesn't have to be in the actual zone or even at the exact pricepoint. If you really need to make it for season tickets only to start with.

The zone is different to the rest of the stadium though xboxes in the concourse, more things for the kids to get involved with in the build up to kick off

The lower section of the North Stand is the obvious area to extend it to. Its one of the last areas of the stadium to sell out and already has young people in there from the football teams who take pens.

It seems like we waste a lot of seats having a barrier between away fans made of empty seats. Can we not just have a barrier or a wall?

Fulham's £385 will be for restricted view seats - they charged £30 for away fans in August 2021 in facilities that were poor for the Championship (wobbly stand, no concourse, few toilets). £30 was the cheapest adult ticket in the ground. Some games they were charging £80 in the Premier League for match day ticket.

I expect our walk up prices will be £1 higher than last season per match. Last season my S/T went up £30 as per next season and match prices went up by £1.

People keep comparing us with Sunderland but they have a 49k capacity stadium to fill. In Division 1 the upper tiers were closed off to save them money.

People compare us to Sunderland as they are in the same region as us. Play in the same division. Also not an affluent area. From what I can see, their season ticket prices for kids (your supporters of the future) put us to shame. It's no surprise they get higher crowds than us. People will talk about catchment area's etc. I guarantee if we had their ticket pricing structure we would be close to selling out week in week out even in the Championship.

Some fair points 18MFC76 but historic catchment is a big factor in crowd size, as well as a clubs ambition and trajectory

We could reduce our prices to theirs and get another 1000 to 2000 fans per game, but we would lose revenue overall and at MFC every penny is reinvested in the team and facilities, if this was cut some fans would eventually suss this out and leave. Our wages bill was £28m in 2020/21 thats quite big for the Championship.

Also some of our stadium is at full capacity or close to it for season tickets (Family Section, South Stand and even East Stand).

The fact the family section is full tells you everything you need to know, if it's made affordable for families people will go. Sadly that's restricted to a relatively small area of the ground. Unlike Sunderland who offer these attractive prices in the whole of their North and South stands (and possibly corners although not 100% on that).

More people in the ground is more money spent in the concourse, in the retail store etc.

Also your fans of the future, who are massively important in the long term.

If the family section is currently sold out with S/Ts, I agree - its been a great success and I agree young fans are the long term future of the club, . I have suggested on here already the lower blocks of the North Stand could be a new extension (Blocks 16, 18, 22, 24). The current family section is not small btw - its 9 blocks, well over 10% of the stadium's used blocks. I have noticed children quite like getting close to the pitch.

I am sure value/price has played a part in the popularity and families do face bigger bills for S/Ts which possibly make them more price sensitive.

However value/price is not everything, many fans chose the South Stand over the cheaper S/W and N/W corners that also have slightly better facilities. I think every South Stand S/T places were all sold out this season.

We have a big chunk of S/Ts with the chairman drink included which in effect makes us as cheap as Sunderland for those S/Ts, but this is often left out of discussions. On S/Ts we also offer quite large discounts to 18-21s and over 65s, larger discounts than most other clubs for S/Ts.

The Club are quite cute at getting money out of fans. For them its about getting most fans to continue to fork out, but reinvesting that money in the playing squad to improve the product on the pitch. I think most fans are now seeing the squad has improved and are buying in - average home attendance this year will be higher than any Championship year since 1998 and the third highest in the league.

How can it be the way forward? What other business openly market the fact they are charging new customers significantly more than existing customers for the same product?
it's clearly a discount for continued support, so people have an incentive to keep their ticket, instead of knowing if they skip a year as don't fancy the manager then they can buy back in at the same price. it's priced that way so people are encouraged to retain instead of letting it lapse and then renewing when things look more rosey

if we are not promoted then the ground wont sell out each week, which they could make more family zone seats available, they could pre-empt them on the basis they are only available while in the championship and will be reviewed on a season by season basis, if they wanting full revenue from the if we promoted and start to sell out again. that way people who want to get the offer wont mind as much as they knew up front that the offer may not be maintained outside of this season and you can still give them the option of renewing at discounted regular early bird prices when ever its removed.

they should also monitor how often people use their additional kids tickets in this zone and if its not over a certain percentage that additional child option should be removed to stop people hoarding it just so they can bring their child's friend once in a while.
