Early Bird Season Tickets on sale

Basically it costs less to watch top class premier league football than to watch Middlesbrough in the championship. Not sure how anyone can justify that, or even justify the fact we spend more than fans at almost every other championship club to watch our team

I thought we had the best owner in football?
Who said that?

People always trot out this line, its not something I've ever said on here. In fact its a while since anyone's said it on here, people were livid with him as recently as last autumn.

I do think it could be worse though, as I truly don't believe he is using the club as a vehicle to get richer. I bet he'd love to sell it if he could, if it made sense for both him and the club.

These are early bird. And they will all go up this spring too.

Cheapest new season ticket in the PL is £549 (Brentford).

If we go up our pricing doesn't look that bad in comparison.
But the prices will rise significantly more if we go up

How could it be worse? Someone put a link up earlier showing only Norwich charge more for tickets than Boro. It’s the poorest area in the country, Gibson is a disgrace for charging fans this much

Gibson personally bank rolls the club, losing millions and millions of his own money year after year.

Without him, we'd be absolutely ****ed.

We want a competitive squad to battle at the top of the division, with a top class manager, with amazing facilities.. yet the club loses millions every single year, even with his input.

Easy to see why they're going up.

It's the cost of a takeaway A YEAR.

Have they increased the wages of those working match days like the concourse servers etc?
Maybe people wouldn't mind so much if the low paid workers were getting a wage increase

Well we could be owned by a middle eastern oil state who murder gay people.

Gibson doesn't make money out of the club though, however you look at it. Disagree with the pricing but it isn't going in his pocket I don't think.

The cynic in me is wondering whether the club are doing this because it's looking like there's a real possibility of us getting promoted. Let's be honest, even if walk-ups are increased to £40, there will be plenty willing to pay it to see us go up against Man United or Liverpool.

I have to comment as well on the junior pricing. In many ways, I feel coming up with the family zone area was a great initiative but it's restrictive in the sense that an adult and junior have to buy tickets together.

I'd much prefer it if the club set up three different categories for junior pricing and had an U18's price, U16's and U11's. Keep it as £186 cheapest ticket for an U18, then make it £100 for an U16, and £40 for an U11. This way it would still work out at just £520 for a parent to buy a season card for themselves and their child and sit in the North or South stand.

My mate and I both got season tickets together when we were 14. If two 14 year olds wanted to do the same now they'd be looking at paying £186 each. It's too much to pay. We were lucky at the time that our parents could afford to help us pay for them but there will be lots of others whose parents might not be prepared to, or simply may not be able to afford it. The 14 year olds then won't be able to afford it as they're still at school.

He only looses millions because of the mistakes he makes year after year. The fans shouldn’t be paying for his mistakes.

But how does every other club in the league minus Norwich compete whilst charging their fans less?

Not sure if these are early bird renewals or general sale but either way it's laughable what Boro charge.
Wow.

£550 odd quid for takeaway? You paying for everyone's when you go to the chinese?

Presumably its because they aren't all saddled with debt from the 1996-2006 era.

If the early bird deadline gets any earlier we might be paying for 2 seasons at once soon.
It was 15th April last year which was ridiculous now its 31st March.

The cheapest ticket at Hartlepool this season is £340, they may go down to non-league.

Sunderland have just come up and theirs is £390, assume it will go up imminently but they are cheaper than us.

Newcastle's cheapest is £600, who'll be in the same division as us next season ;) .

I think you have to make comparisons with other NE clubs, as the fact of the matter is we are compromised by there not being many football clubs here, and yet there are also hardly any professional rugby union, rugby league or cricket clubs for the football teams to compete with for attendances.

Its what I expected but with the knock on to walk up prices its going to be expensive for a mam or dad to take their children to a first match. We know that the ageing fanbase is an issue and we don't seem to do anything to mitigate it. Expand the family zone or do offer adult and kid tickets for other areas of the ground. Its going to be over 50 quid for a game for that next season.

So Sunderland are £160 cheaper than us?

Newcastle only an extra £50 and that’s in a better league. It makes ours look even worse

who’s fault is that?

Clearly deliberate with potential promotion impending.
Which would be a great time to get new fans on board, so why charge them even more than existing customers when it could still be another championship season they pay for. That makes zero sense
