Early Bird Season Tickets on sale

Sunderlands prices for this season.
£48 for an u16 is fantastic to be fair. I've always had an issue with us having one fixed junior price.

Your teenage years is usually the period where you're most enthused about your football club, so I can't understand why the club isn't making it more affordable for our teenage fans and kids.

It doesn’t make it right

Who on earth will pay £550 to watch possible championship football?

The club is on a massive high at the moment, take advantage with reasonable new season ticket prices provided people commit before the end of March. It’s still likely we will be a championship side next season but could have had a huge number of season ticket holders if they were reasonably priced
I'm not offering any comment on right or wrong here. The commercial world does not operate with morals at the forefront of its mind (or anywhere to be seen). I'm simply trying to make sense of the pricing, from a commercial sense. The club's goal is to exploit fans effectively and maximise its revenue, it has never been anything else.

£390 compared to £550 is a staggering difference

Expect they will get thousands of new members with those prices
Thats comparing this season (Sunderland) with next season (Us) though so hardly comparable. Your talking about £60 difference I believe if you base it on this seasons prices which is hardly surprising considering we are an established Championship club and they are a newly promoted team. Not a chance they will be similar this season for Sunderland fans in my opinion.

Last season it was £450 (Boro) v £335 (Deckchairs). So we are a fair bit more expensive. But we sold 18,000 and they sold 30,000. They do have a bigger stadium to fill, however.

Going by that chart AB, it states that its £390 behind the goals this season at the SOL, we are £450 so £60 difference (unless ive got something wrong :ROFLMAO: ). That chart is for this season 2022/23, obviously ours are for the 2023/24 season.

I'd imagine they'll be in for an imminent rise now they are established back in second tier and are PL hopefuls too (though not as much as us) but yeah it surely won't be anywhere near £480.
It would be interesting to compare our matchday revenue figures with theirs. How many season ticket holders do we have? 20,000?

They have 31,000, and although the majority of their fans are paying less than the majority of ours for their season ticket, you'd still have to think the club is making more than we are in matchday revenue.

I'm impressed at how they categorise the junior pricing. As I said, the family zone is restrictive. You could get a group of 13/14 year olds wanting to buy matchday tickets together and they would have to pay £17 each, or £186 each for a season ticket. Not every teenager will want to go to the game with their parent and would probably prefer to go with their mates at that age.

It would be interesting to compare the demographics of their home crowds and ours. I bet a higher percentage of their crowd is made up of junior fans, in comparison to us.

There's another article above though from SAFC that says their early bird was £335 for this season. I've no doubt it will go up but even if it goes up to £400 its £80 less than ours for next season.

I think its pretty clear that Sunderland fans do get best value for money in terms of cost per game in the region. Hartlepool fans are getting absolutely fleeced by that metric.

I'm happy to pay an extra £100 not to watch the Mackems though. hoho 🤣

Ah right sorry missed that! We'll go off that chart though eh for my argument! ;) :ROFLMAO:

The trouble is I sit in the West Stand if we make the Premier league that's about 33.70 a game to watch us get battered. Additional I can't make every game with work commitments some weekends. We just get the season ticket for the convenience tickets guaranteed next to us mates. It would be good if the club started a reselling Scheme where if you can't attend a game your seat can be sold to someone else and your paid back. Otherwise it's not really worthwhile
Someone could argue it's £33.70 to see the best players in the World play at the Riverside or £22 if you sit in the North Stand - Is that expensive?

Certainly the equivalent of seeing a top play in London (£50 plus)

A lot of these charts aren't 100% accurate. I read an article in the Athletic that seemed to be implying 'cheapest pricing' but it was actually showing most expensive cheapest price per club. Its a massive head-fck!

But commercially it makes zero sense too, people won’t pay that much when they don’t even know what league we will be in. Make it a good price now and people will probably sign up regardless. Form can come and go instantly in football, we might not even make the playoffs yet.

While the clubs doing well they should be attracting as many new fans as possible to commit to every game next year, not making it more difficult for new fans to join

Well that's your opinion at present but the only way to prove it is if our matchday takings decrease next season.

Putting things into (even worse) perspective, my daughter had an U18 ST at Stockport County last season - Conference - and paid £50 which we thought was cracking value.

£48 for a Championship ST for U16 is outstanding imo. Just a shame watching that shyte 23 times a season........

6.7% increase for me, but it is higher for some of concession groups, that do get a better deal than me (18-21s and over 65s).

I don't resent a 6.7% rise if every penny goes into improving the squad and facilities at the Club.

Cheapest pricing at County last year was £360, or £385 for a newbie (early bird newbie). So the £450 I paid at Boro really doesn't seem bad in comparison.

I know there are other comparison that can be made that look less favourable however.
