EFL statement ref Derby (updates)

Been nosing at Derby fans reaction on twitter. One I find interesting is Andy @DERBY5HIRE posting details on companies in the last few days Mel Morris owns that he has dissolved or asked to delay accounts .
Noting that the County fans are not blaming Steve Gibson or EFL any more and have come to realise what Morris has done to their club.

I sometimes pop in on the DCFC fans forum and they are still frothing at the mouth that it's all Gibsons fault.

Interesting situation thats left in that EFL could be left with high legal costs for ultimately 100k fine, I'm sure the other EFL clubs will be loving our Gibbo.

Some people who seem to know there stuff on this calculate Derbys loss for the period would go from a 6m loss (thanks to the stadium sale) to a 36m loss, which is still below the threshold of 39m therefore resulting in no points deduction.

Consequently, the EFLs only other option is to appeal this decision again but to go from punishing a club 100k to a back dated relegation or any type of points deduction would require a monumental shift which is never likely to happen.

The fact the EFL seem so quick to be the ones to release information, even before their own commision, shows they feel they are on the run and desperate to salvage any scrap of credibility.

Release the accounts, if the numbers ring true everyone just needs to move on (and sell their stadium to fund purchases should they want).

Even if not relegated, the future is not exactly looking bright and I imagine they'll get relegated next season anyway.

Legal costs? If Derby haven’t been straight then they’ll have the book thrown at them. I think that why the fine is so low tbh.

Also during the period clubs that lost out financially because of Derby could have a case against them..

They should cut their loads and take their medicine.

You are advocating people selling their stadia to fund purchases? You are talking about an open invitation for football club owners to asset strip and rob their supporters of their football club for short termism. It had absolutely no gain whatsoever for Derby or Sheff Wed did it? And they both will likely face terrible problems in the future. It cannot be right for everyone else and it cannot be right for their own clubs.

So the Club will propose the appropriate sanction! Very odd.
I suspect that is a choice of a) take the points deduction in the 20-21 season and play in League One OR take a stricter longer punishment, of transfer embargos, points deductions and financial penalties for 21-22.

They have been punished for the financial filing irregularity. But that is only a precursor to the real issue. That irregularity was to hide a breach of FFP. Derby have been invited to resubmit filings for 16, 17 and 18 seasons. It is likely they will be in breach for those three seasons, so that will lead to a further charge, but they cannot apply that charge until Derby submit their correct accounts.

If they fail to file in time, then that could have further sanctions. 2016 seasons correctly filed accounts are now 4 years over due, that's an expulsion from the league level failure. It won't come to that, but I'm more convinced than ever that they will get the punishment they deserve.

Derby have until the 18th August to submit the accounts. The season starts on the 7th so there's no way they will be demoted this season.

They may have points deducted for 21-22 season but that's the best we can hope for isn't it?

It's a ridiculous situation. Derby should take it on the chin and get it over with. How are Wycombe supposed to prepare for a season in the Championship with just a few days notice?!? Derby potentially owning Wycombe £15m if they don't sort their act out..

Agree totally!
Wycombe deserve the income - they will be able to put their own club on a sound footing.
The reason they havent is because Derby have been allowed to be crooks and get away with cheating.
They deserve chucking in the Derwent and take the EFL with them!
