Emerson in his pomp>better than Souness.

If you read the question properly, it's basically "Was Emerson better than Souness when he was at his very best"

It reminds me of when Robbie Savage claimed that he was 'world class' at one point

Many footballers have moments of brilliance every now and then.

There are loads of clips where a bang average footballer shoots a 40 yd screamer into the top corner

But as many have said on this thread, the question is invalidated because the best footballers produce world class moments week in, week out

Souness did - Emerson didn't

When I first saw Emmerson play for us (think it was a friendly v Inter) I thought he was immense and thought he was going to be one of the worlds best.
I loved watching him play when he was at his best. He was very exciting. He did not have the mental strength to be a top player other than in spurts .He liked being out on the pop too much and everything else that came with being a well paid player.
Superb on his day but not anywhere near the player Souness was. Souness was a true world class player over a long period of time.
