England v Malta - 7:45pm KO

I honestly don't understand the game and what is deemed 'wrong' and what is deemed as requiring VAR to get involved at all anymore.

It seems to be almost arbitrary in its application to the point of being ridiculous. Either every single decision is reviewed to see if it is correct, or non are. This non-definable middle ground is both infuriating and pointless, nobody asked for this. We either wanted the game to flow and everything evened out over a season, or we wanted every decision correct. The officiating is now worse than pre-VAR. So what's the point?

I was trying to avoid this match but Conor Gallagher just popped up on Children in Need to tell a joke.

By the sounds of it his 30 second cameo was slightly better than his performance for England so far.

Gallagher and Henderson 🙄
Both should be nowhere near starting for England, really poor selections for me.

How many managers in world football would pick TAA-Henderson-Gallagher as starters with what we have available?

Seems negative and lacking in experience in those positions, or athleticism and attacking verve to me.

But if he'd played his normal starting XI I'd have probably moaned too.

Can't please everyone.

Malta can be very pleased with their performance so far. England look very disjointed and like they’ve not expected Malta to be so organised in transition. Only Foden looks on form so far.

I really struggle with Gallagher. Sure, there must be a player there, he's playing at a very good level but I have absolutely no idea what sort of midfielder he is. He tracks runners and can play a simple five yard pass to feet. Is that sufficient for international football these days?

All I hear is how good Gallagher is for Chelsea. When I watch him he never catches the eye. For England he’s Diabolical
He’s never an attacking midfielder. Industrious yes, but lacks the vision or touch to play in that final third.
