You're spoilt for choice. There's a few places in London but pricey and no one asks if want more scraps.
My arteries just clogged up looking at that!Love trenchers in Whitby, also the fisherman's wife is decent. Never get the fuss about magpie, been twice and average both times
Just had battered black pudding in Lake District

Harbour View is ridiculous. I like the place but it's only for sharing. Fisherman's Bay on the seafront in Whitley is my go to place these days.
I’ve never been to that one, did there used to be a sweet shop next door?I'm from Whitby and totally agree. Nobody I know ever goes to the Magpie, etc. They are for tourists.
I'd add Silver Sreet to the 3 you mentioned.
There’s a world of difference between a good chippy and a bad one. For instance, there was one on Victoria Street in South Bank that used to masquerade Vietnamese fish as cod.never got the fuss about where to go for fish and chips
Prety much tastes the same to me regardless of where it is, so i usually just go to whatever is the closest, i mean, how can you get it wrong, fried fish in flour batter and
fried chips takes some doing to mess that up
Pantrinis is good but very variable portion sizes. Whitley Whaler is greasy rubbish. Not tried there its off the beaten track from the other 3. De meos has a bigger queue than the Whitley Whaler and Pantrinis!
It's amazing how many places can't do them, I was in Cheshire last week and they weren't a patch on our local stuff. Same as the many London chippies I tried, garbage.never got the fuss about where to go for fish and chips

Mr Chips beats them bothTrenchers is far better than the magpie

Yes. That's the oneI’ve never been to that one, did there used to be a sweet shop next door?
This is true. 9 out of ten London chippies are *****. Same goes for Indian and Chinese takeaways. Fish needs to be fresh to be good. London is too far from the sea. There are a few decent ones. Get their fish straight from Billingsgate. Oddly enough the locals down here wouldn't know a good chippy if it bit them on the ****, so you get bad ones that get custom and good ones that don't.It's amazing how many places can't do them, I was in Cheshire last week and they weren't a patch on our local stuff.
