Forss Injury

“Asked about Forss after, Carrick said: “He got a knock. I think he’s all right. I’ve not really seen too much of him yet, but I do think he’s all right. Hopefully he will be because I think that was another big step for him again today."

I hope it's not a minor niggle like Dieng supposedly had

Forss has 5 in 12 and im not sure how many starts that is . Archer got 11 in 20 . I can certainly see forss beating that and his own record from last season .

Forss is a real quality player. He got one chance yesterday and smashed it in. If Coburn isn’t fit enough and Latte Lath is injured then surely it makes sense to play him up front. His movement and technique are really good. I think he’s wasted on the flank. He reminds me of Stuani tbh in that he’s capable of doing a good defensive job on the right and ‘ghosting’ into the box quite often but I’d love to see him playing as a striker.

Doesn't the fact that he is scoring regularly coming from that wider position show that it's working?

It's harder for the opposition to pick him up. I am sure he would do a good job as the 9 but then you also lose the defensive work he does on that right hand side.

When Jones is fit then I do think we need to get both forss and Jones in the side so to make that happen I suppose Forss has to start up top or Jones has to play right back, I'd be happy with either i think. It'll be good to have the options.

Yeah I think Forss is fine on the right for now while Jones is out but when Jones comes back we need them both in the side some how.

I'd be very happy with McGree, Azaz, Jones as the 3 behind Forss.

I agree.
And now we have McGree
It would be bright
To play him on the right
Then of course
Up front could be Forss

I've no idea why I felt the need to phrase that in bloody awful poetry, but there you go.🤷

The issue with him playing up front is his all round game maybe wasn't quite there. Good movement off the ball, but it never really stuck to him enough.

But you'd hope after all that time out wide, that part of his game will have come on a bit now.

He's scoring goals from out wide, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't score more goals as a striker. In fact all being equal, he should get more chances there. There are other considerations of course, but as a rule of thumb you want your best finisher playing as close to the goal as possible surely? And he's, by some distance I'd say, clearly our best finisher.

Slight aside to this is I don’t really like what’s happening with Coburn. When he first came through he had a real knack of being in the right place at the right time, could sniff out a chance, and was chipping in with goals. We now use him as a wall, essentially, and trying to play off him or trying to get the ball to stick to him to buy us time.

I don’t know if this is physical or not - he’s filled out quite a bit now and has a huge frame, which can be difficult to carry around at speed for 90mins, but his raw talent, what were once his strengths, seems to be sort of fading away and he’s becoming a more of a target man. And as a team that doesn’t really play with a target man, or wouldn’t if they could help it, it’s a bit of a shame to see how we’re using him.

I think we’ve made him about once chance to score in his last half a dozen appearances. He’s playing back to goal 30, 40 yards out and I don’t think that’s his strength tbh.
