Gordon for Foden

Anybody think Gareth will have the testicles to make the change or will he stick with Foden for the rest of the group games?

It just never seems to work out for Foden with england.

Taking nothing away from his ability, he's been amazing for Man City, but he never ever turns up for England. I think people seem to turn a blind eye because he's so good for City.

Last night he was so sloppy, and looked a bit lost.

I only listened to the game. The commentators appeared to be 50/50 about Foden`s performance?

It's such a tricky one. I'd be tempted to stick with him on the left vs Denmark, and if we win and qualify from the group I'd then like to see Southgate experiment in the final group game and go with Bellingham in midfield and Foden as a 10, with Gordon wide left.

I’ve been saying it since before the game, it ain’t going to work but Southgate has not got the guts to own up to it not working out for foden and play a supremely confident palmer

It is psychological with Foden, at some point he is going to dominate a game, score goals and then fly from then on.

I like Palmer but he hasn't played like a supremely confident player for England.

Against Bosnia in the 2nd half he had the ball in their box and had space and time to take a shot at goal but wanted to take the extra touch and wasted the chance. He did something similar against Iceland when he was through on goal but took it around the keeper instead of shooting and again it was a wasted chance.

So we have to wait for foden to get his psychological side of his game right 🤔
We’ll be back home by then Bonny lad.
Foden sadly needs a night off with the bench

Or Gordon or Eze, on the left, I’d prefer Gordon because of how direct and fearless he is

Gordon or Eze will likely get their start in the dead rubber v Slovenia, whilst we rest the PL player of the season, so he's fit and ready for the KO's.

Foden is being judged as having had a crap game based on the high standards he has set playing for City.

If you set that aside and watch the game not knowing who he is and what he is capable of, you'd have seen a player who worked his socks off covering for the very immobile and out of position full-back behind him, but was wasteful in possession and didn't have much of an impact going forward. He did his defensive job well and his attacking job poorly, and because of what was behind him, he had more of a defensive role than he should have.

If England had picked a limited but hard-working player to cover for not having a left-back, and they had done the job Foden did last night, they would have been judged as having done ok.

Sometimes, if the players is really that good then you have to persevere as every game brings them closer, Alan Shearer went 12 games without a goal before Euro 96.

I’d stick with Foden.

Although if it’s another below par performance then it is an area we may need to change.

Fingers crossed he has a more effective game against Denmark but yeah I’m sticking with Foden.

I would like to see Eze against Slovenia providing we beat Denmark.🇩

Yeh I think Corciagh has got it, you’d probably want Bellingham and Rice in middle with Foden playing where he plays for city at 10, we’d see a different Foden…

In possession - (first half) I’d like to see a higher tempo with the passing and exploiting the gaps behind the defence in the corner areas to the box more, it was a bit lackluster and the opposition knew all they needed to do was be compact (Saka) is supremely dangerous there… with Kane, Foden, Bellingham arriving in the box. - Pep style

Out of possession -(second half) we adopt compact defending (we did) but I’d like to see quicker balls to feet from the goalkeeper and a hard press in our half to force errors and turn over the ball, with a fast counter to take advantage of our pace and the oppositions high line - Klopp style (it’s a shame Rashford was Gashford for United this season, he’s good in that roll)

We have the players to do it, we’d be fecking lethal, and the substitutions would write themselves according to which phase of the game we were in… or pregame according to which opposition we were playing, they wouldn’t know what hit them.

That performance Bellingham put in last night, especially the first half, and the performances/goals from that same position in champions league winning Real Madrid.......

And people are seriously calling for him to be moved position to accommodate a player that never turns up for England?

Utter madness.

Foden needs dropping for Gordon.

Stick with Foden on the left for now. He's generally top class for City ion that position. I don't think we'll ever see him play as badly as he did last night again, irrelevant of where he plays.
Gordon wouldn't have improved things last night. Grealish would have...

On what basis? He was excellent in the friendlies he played, and has been excellent for newcastle.

He's absolutely rapid, and incredibly direct.

Of course he'd have made a difference - exactly how Saka did on the other side.

But grealish would have?
