Government taking nurses to court.

Government taking nurses to court to try and rule planned strikes unlawful. That’s democracy in Britain in the 21st Century.

I’m sure it will really make nurses want to settle for 5%.

The optics really aren’t good on that are they…

hopefully it will open a few more eyes up to the scum that they are, clap on thursday, see them in court on Friday…🤬

The Royal College of Nursing has never been a particularly activist organisation.
It received its Royal Charter in 1928 and the Queen was the RCN Patron till her passing.
If there was ever anything which has changed it from quietly clapping Ministers of Health at their annual conference, to voting for strikes for the first time in their history - its 13 years of naked corporate greed and privatisation of what was the best National Health Service in the world.
Nursing was always a socially "conservative" profession, but thanks to Government cuts, privatisation of Nurse Training, the virtual abolition of bursaries and the exit of qualified clinicians after brexit - the Tory`s have succeeded in radicalising the profession and might have a bluddy fight on their hands. This government thought they could do to the RMT what they did to the Miners. Now it looks like they are taking on Nurses. That is the last straw for most British people: at some stage in our lives, from being born to paliative care, we have all needed a nurse or a clinical practitoner at some point - so to attack the very fabric of peoples lives will be the tipping point. These barstewards need to go......but Im not sure what could take its place is any less an enemy.

Gonna upset a few on here, but they are scum.
(The government, not the nurses).
I think most of those uncomfortable with anyone holding up a mirror to what it means to continue to support these ******* have already flounced off. So I don't think anyone will be upset.

Those who voted Tory before and now recognise them for the ***** they are are probably more ***ed off than anyone. So again, unlikely to be upset.

In completely unrelated news, thousands of nhs vacancies which can’t be filled. Wonder why people are no longer wanting to do these jobs, and how will we cope when even more walk away

It wasn’t that long ago they were waxing lyrical about nurses, but beyond the hollow platitude of clapping the Tories don’t value hard working nurses at all

If this is the way they plan to end strikes there will be riots

I wish you were right but the vast majority of the British public couldn't care less. People are too wrapped up in things like football, love Island and the latest iPhone to give a damn about real world issues

I've just done 9 months of rail strikes and the majority of people I spoke to didn't have a clue what was going on or what it was even about.

The Tories and their stench polices have taught people who have a mortgage and a decent private sector job to be a thoughtless, heartless greedy chunt to look out for yourself above all else and these are the people who vote for them.
My brother is one of them.
Working class tories

I just hope this latest nasty policy back fires on them because everyone needs a nurse now and then OR….it knows someone who needed a nurses support and kindness and their plight really cuts through this vile agenda to finish off the nhs and bring about a new age of British private healthcare in this country.
The Tory dream because they would live off the insurance companies ‘donations’ for the remainder of their time on earth

If the NHS goes private then you'd think that this will be the point that people take to the streets for mass demonstrations, but their are millions of people like you describe who will simply shrug their shoulders because they know they'll still be ok and/ or they'll be convinced by our right wing media that its in their best interests.

‘convinced by our right wing media that its in their best interests’.

Exactly, that’s how easily manipulated the majority of the British public are unfortunately.

I still can’t wrap my brain around how and why people vote for these vvankers they really are the scum of the earth.

I'm all right, Jack

The notion of self-centered complacency, i.e., of being satisfied or happy with one's circumstances, and thus unconcerned with anyone else's. Often used as a modifier before a noun, though typically not hyphenated. Primarily heard in UK.

I'm all right, Jack

People say I'm all right, Jack to mean that their own situation is good and they do not care about anyone else. It's easy to think only of yourselves, say `I'm all right Jack' and sign the contract. Note: I'm all right, Jack is used before nouns to describe this kind of attitude. That's a bit of an I'm all right Jack attitude isn't it?

And it's interesting the number of people now "coming out" on social media saying they voted for the Tories in 2019 but absolutely will not be doing so in 2024.

Well what's REALLY changed? They are still the party of the rich, serving the rich and don't give one solitary sh*t about 90% of the population.

Happy / ambivalent when government policies shaft other people but not them, but when their money is affected - and let's face it this is what it's all about - whooooooaaaaaah!!!

Yet these are the people Labour need to fight for to win a GE. These and the "red wall" thickos.🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
