I'm glad you've done well in life (genuinely) but it's not as simple as what you claim. So many people prioritise sky tv mobile phones , takeaways etc and live behind their means rather than focus on personal growth .
Poverty is a real issue and for many it's an endless cycle that they cannot escape from. Kids grow up in poverty with a single parent (lots of times) who is struggling to survive. The kids grow up around people exactly the same, where crime and substance abuse is rife. Education isn't a focus and the kids aren't supported often at home. They become what those around them are and the cycle continues.
Of course, some do escape that cycle and some poor parents do support their kids to be better, but the vast majority don't. Those who do make progress in life are encouraged to believe it's all their own work that got them there. If others didn't it's because they didn't work hard!
