Huddersfield away

I absolutely sympathise. I think you'll get tickets in the 190+ but that's not really the point.

MFC have created a system that is by design a closed shop, I highlighted this when it was introduced and have ever since but the general attitude from most is "I'm alright Jack" as long as I have enough points.

They need to look into what they can do to help Under 18s, they by design of the system will have less points so if you want to go to an away game with them you either have to wait for their window and risk not going yourself or buy theirs in a separate window. However they can't sit on their own, so unreserved seating would help there. But people don't want that because they would have to reduce the allocations, however since the points system was introduced we now have people standing in your seats, standing in aisles, blocking stairways etc because they don't want to stand on their own they want to stand with their friends and family.

Younger fans are missing out on the chance to buy tickets having in some cases being to more away games than the people getting tickets, and they're missing out purely because of their age which they obviously cannot change.

The whole thing needs looking at again.

I wouldn't worry about the Premier League tickets if we ever got there, most allocations are around 3,000. With that level of points you'd be fine for pretty much every game barring Brentford, Fulham and Bournemouth.

I've seen you post this time and time again. The priority point system is anything but a closed shop.

It would be a closed shop if those with a lot of points were able to get more points by buying tickets and those with low points weren't able to buy away tickets. That's only serving a small minority on a consistent basis.

However, 90% of our away games make general sale.

That means priority points 9 times out of 10 are available to all.

Young, old, brand new Boro fans, fans that have been going for 50 years. Anyone can build up their points by buying away tickets consistently and going to away games.

The way those with a lot of points get such a high number of them is they buy more away tickets (that are available to everyone) than those with a low number of points, who for whatever reason don't follow Boro away a lot (can't be arsed, can't afford it, etc etc).

Part of it is a closed shop though.

Under this current system:
No one under the age of 27 will ever be a Gold Card Holder
No new season ticket holder will ever start on more than 140 points, regardless if they end up being a season ticket holder for 10/20/30/40+ consecutive seasons.

Other than that, the loyalty scheme is about as good as it'll get.

But those two levels definitely need addressing. And I say this as a current Gold Card holder myself.

I've had a season ticket for 20 consecutive seasons, how do I apply for a gold card?

At what point can my son or daughter expect to receive their chairman's drink?

I thought we were talking about the ability (or as you claim inability) to build priority points to enable fans to access away tickets, not getting a free pint.

I couldn't give a **** about my Chairman's Drink. Tell them they can have mine.

I've been to 24 away games since the start of last season, and I only became a ST holder for the first time this year.

Funny kind of closed shop when the doors are wide open for someone like me.

Going to the recent four home cup games would have gained anyone 12 points. Tickets were a fiver for kids weren't they?

10 away games in the last 2 seasons is another 20 points.

How many points is that with a season ticket for the last 2 years?

If it was just opened up to all season ticket holders - someone who bought a ST at Xmas could get a ticket for a key game ahead of long term ST holders who maybe go to half the away games etc.

This is definitely a problem that needs looking at by MFC.

The fact it's a closed shop being Gold Card Holders and Chairman Drink holders, is a joke.

Riverside is 27 years old - so anyone under the age of 27 will never ever start on 160 points. That's just simply ridiculous IMO. It's just not fair on those under 27 years old.

25 consecutive years as a season ticket holder and you're still not qualified as a 'gold card holder' isn't right.

Hopefully MFC sort this out for next season.
As soon as you hit 25 consecutive years you should get a gold card

The closed shop is that younger fans have to go to 10 away games just to pull level with those who have a gold card, a level which no matter how many years they put in they will never have themselves.

If the popular away match is at the start of the season they’re knackered as the people will an in-built advantage will have snap up the tickets.

It’s not about the free drink, it’s about the extra points that comes with that status.

Until they open up gold card and chairman’s drink statuses it’s entirely fair to call it a closed shop.

If you've got a season ticket, you should be given the chance to buy an away ticket before anyone else. Anything else discriminates and/or creates the possibilities of a closed shop. It's not a difficult to operate and it's fair. I don't see why we moved away from this.

The Gold Card element, whereby you gain an extra 20 points over other ST holders is not open to new members. That looks like a closed shop to me Clay.

20 thousand-ish season ticket holders with loads of fans who live outside of the area..

Probably a bit unfair.. they did sell away season tickets at one point.. don’t think they do them anymore

anyone who was a season ticket holder during the Strachan years deserves a gold season ticket just purely on that basis!
I have had a season ticket for over 40 years. My late mother, my son and myself where all gold card holders.
Strachan was so bad we decided the only way to get rid was for people to not renew season tickets for the new season.
We still purchased our same seats for every game on a match by match basis till the day Strachan was sacked and Mowbray was appointed.
We then renewed our season tickets in the same seats and lost our gold card status.
Our own fault, well Strachan's as well I suppose.

The door is so wide open that even if you’d had a season ticket last season too you’d have 0% chance of a Luton ticket thanks to those extra points chairman’s drink and gold card holders have.

I think I missed out on the early bird and lost my seats.. lol

Still renewed tho.. so I ended up paying MORE for Strachan.

I should be getting a platinum card!

He would if those with Gold Cards hadn't been to a load of away games, and he had.
