I think we as fans have to bite the bullet and just go with wilders vision

I was a little shocked earlier this week with news of poss out going etc but I think we all now have to put any issues aside realise wilder is going to change us dramatically to the team and squad we had the last few seasons and just go with it

This is his vision so let’s trust in the manager and see where it takes us.

To be fair no one knows for sure so I wouldn’t say he has no control as he’d walk if that was the case.

Let’s see how we re invest these funds.

No problem with Wilder - the problem is that it appears he doesn't have full control over the transfer policy. We will get 25m for Spence and Tav but will that be reinvested into the team?
as long as we get quality replacements in Im not concerned about the money. Gibson has bankrolled us for decades, we can hardly com plain if he doesnt want to spend the full £25m plus whatever else was already in the budget

and of course Wilder doesnt have full control of transfers, thats the whole point of having Keiran Scott

I agree with you, but proven replacements cost money. We can't replace Tav with another Payero project or expect a 20-goal season from a striker with no pedigree.

Yeah, I don't think Tav going was Wilders vision, but it's going to be a big problem he's going to have to deal with.

I think our transfer business so far indicates Wilder has the main say, certainly in terms of incoming players.

I bet Wilder is a bit sore about tav going but ultimately it is Scott's job to steer the long term shape of the squad and wilder to get results in the short term.

Why are people so concerned about whether we are going to sign more players, or spend some money? What evidence is there to suggest we wouldn't do that?

I think the days of trying to buy the finished article like a Britt or Braithwaite are long gone, but that's probably not a bad thing...

Our whole business model at the moment is to buy young, cheaper, talented players... improve them, sell at a profit, repeat. He wants to go, we have an ok offer for him... lets say goodbye with good wishes and money in our pocket and start working down our list of targets. We won't sign someone for Saturday, but I would be confident that we have more than a few new faces in towards the end of the window.

Of course, if our recruitment is poor then this doesn't work. If we can't find anyone who wants to come to us, we will struggle. But there's no such thing as a guarantee when it comes to transfers, we just have to trust the people who's job it is and go with it. It feels like we have a much better plan and process around this than we have had before, I'm not worrying yet.

Ultimately it will be, but I won't expect to see £25 million spent on fees. Maybe half that, with the rest going towards the wage bill. That's "investing in the team", even if it's not so conspicuous.

We always have to go with the manager's vision. It's not like we've ever had influence over transfer policy or style of play. The pay off is the manager gets all the credit when it goes well, and the blame when it doesn't.

Because the first game of the season is tomorrow, and we have a bench full of kids against a strong Championship side.

There is no way these have not been coming a mile off!!

If I can remember the club saying the exact thing that was going to happen last summer.. then I’m sure Chris Wilder will have his finger of the pulse while he’s calling the shots!!

No Manager anywhere has full control over transfer policy. It should be a consensus view between Owner, Recruitment people and Manager and is constrained by the Clubs budget. The club has to live within it's means. I get that people are disappointed to lose Tav but why so much shock? We've known for ages that we might find it hard to hang on to some players. We knew this before Wilder became manager. I'm sure he would have liked to hang onto Tav but he's experienced and he knows this is the reality of Football Management. There is nothing to suggest that he is at odds with the Club regarding transfer policy. If we only lose Tav now then we will have done quite well really.

You don't want to lose your best players but at the same time if you don't have other clubs wanting them then it's indicative of you not having a very good team. Apparently we are ranked 194th in the world so were always going to have the problem of other clubs luring players away. It's how you plan to deal with it that matters. Let's see where we are at the end of the window.

Tav leaving wasn't part of Wilders vision. Wilder desperately wanted to keep him, Tav wanted to leave.

Can't keep any player at the club who wants to be elsewhere for whatever reason.

Wilder has managed long enough to know the craic with transfers and players being sold who he wanted to keep. Outside of the PL there are 72 clubs in the same position as Boro, that's just how it is.

Tav leaves, we hopefully get two replacements in who improve the team. Timing is crap, but it is what it is.

Wilder must have got 'positive' news off Gibson when he told us they'd been out for 3-4 hours for a meal.

Rumour was that Wilder was going to tell him he was off to Burnley, but he backed out, having spoken to Gibson.

I'd expect Boyd-Munce to be on the bench ahead of some of the younger players. Will Forss have his work permit in time?
