Why are people so concerned about whether we are going to sign more players, or spend some money? What evidence is there to suggest we wouldn't do that?
I think the days of trying to buy the finished article like a Britt or Braithwaite are long gone, but that's probably not a bad thing...
Our whole business model at the moment is to buy young, cheaper, talented players... improve them, sell at a profit, repeat. He wants to go, we have an ok offer for him... lets say goodbye with good wishes and money in our pocket and start working down our list of targets. We won't sign someone for Saturday, but I would be confident that we have more than a few new faces in towards the end of the window.
Of course, if our recruitment is poor then this doesn't work. If we can't find anyone who wants to come to us, we will struggle. But there's no such thing as a guarantee when it comes to transfers, we just have to trust the people who's job it is and go with it. It feels like we have a much better plan and process around this than we have had before, I'm not worrying yet.
