Ignoring posters

It’s a forum not the pub. If you only want to chat to your mates set up a group on what’s app.

I get that everyone is different and you might not agree but for me this place is for reading lots of conflicting views and points of view.

I left Facebook a few years ago for the reasons you state.
I don't see why a forum should be any different. It's a place where people go to converse. Why is choosing who to speak to people online different?

I don't ignore people because they have different views to me. I ignore them because I don't like them. Or at least their online persona.

People talk about not having anyone on ignore like it's a badge of honour or something. Look at me aren't I open minded. :D
Some people you just aren't going to get along with.

Doing it on purpose is the equivalent of grown adults putting their fingers in their ears and shouting “nurr nurr nurr”.

Aren’t we here to enjoy debate with everyone? Even people you don’t agree with?
The freedom to choose what you receive is the right of every boro fan))

I don't have anyone on ignore, but I don't read every topic and would avoid some - because I'm bored of them and the predictable entrenched divisiveness. You know what the entire content is and I won't get the time back again 😂

I don't have an issue with anyone filtering content by ignore posters who don't add much other than unnecessary drama...

No one can read this, can they? Sigh...

I suspect, judging by the number of posts assigned to most usernames on my ignore list, that they are all the same person 😁
I think this board is much better at keeping the serially banned and re-created off.
There are a couple on my list who have never posted anything worthwhile and are in it solely to troll others.

I realised yesterday I had someone on ignor,e, bloody amazing since I didn’t even know how to do it. red_harrington and when I appologised he even explained why I might have done it 😁. Just don’t see the point of it really, I can ignore someone without needing a button, been doing it all my life.

It’s a good tool for those who want it.
I don’t need to use it myself, I can easily ignore posters without pressing a button.
I do think some people are a bit precious on what is an anonymous message board.

I don’t agree with this. I just think people don’t ignore others as they don’t let things get to them. I’m almost anonymous here, maybe one or two know me but they’re mates in real life, as are many of you unless you know each other personally, so by the same token bragging doesn’t work either.

You won't be able to read this but I don't mind.
I do have a handful of posters on ignore deliberately, but they're exclusively posters who can't help themselves when it comes to being incredibly obnoxious about political topics.

If I could ignore threads, I probably wouldn't have to ignore them, but it's not something the mods seem fussed about.

Yea I once contributed to a political thread and picked up a few ignores from people who took pleasure in telling me they were going to. I wasn’t rude, just disagreed. Some board major players too, I was surprised they were so delicate.

Never again on the politics
What or who is a 'board major player'? Is this like the clique again?

I don't have anyone on ignore and I don't consider it a badge of pride. I just can't imagine being so bothered by what someone else posts that I would need to censor what I see for myself. I'd sooner just dismiss what they say or take the opportunity to remind them I think they're a muppet.

If it gets genuinely serious, then admin would generally get involved. There's a distinction between a disagreement and some silly insults and abuse/bullying/threats etc. I find admin generally get it right.

I had a post removed last week for what I assume was me being abusive, 0 complaints. Someone expressed something I found morally reprehensible. I called them a to$$er and rightfully had it removed. Posted in drink, silly error, if I did it regularly then I imagine a ban would be forthcoming.

That said, if people want to ignore others then go you ahead! I can understand why someone would ignore me and I wouldn't take much offence unless it was from another poster who's contributions I particularly enjoy.

The only one I've done it with was Rob as I worry that the over 75s don't have any idea whats going on.

I base this on whatever Nobby says and I use him as some sort of senility barometer,
