Ignoring posters

Aye but if the drunken d****ead kept coming over to you talking ***** when you’re trying to speak to your mates you’d eventually ignore him… I ignore the drunken d****ead on here. Only difference is none of you are my mates. 😂
 
I talk so much shyte that I tried to ignore myself, but there's no option for that.
 
I don't have anybody on ignore, I've found most people on here polite and reasonable.

I often find that those with whom my views on one subject are opposed they are aligned with on another.

And whilst I understand things can get heated and passionate, it's never a good idea to get behind a keyboard when you're angry.
 
I’ve never felt inclined to press the ignore button, I don’t see the need.

However, each to their own.

there are rules of honest debate and respect though. If people stay within those bounds then fair enough. There are a lot of posters on here that I fundamentally disagree with but carry on with the debate. The ones on block are the people that throw petty insults or are clear shills or trolls, waste of time debating with those types.
 
Some posters are just looking for a bad faith argument so I ignore them. The analogy above of the pub bore is spot on: they have the right to chose to prattle on about stuff I don't care about, and I have the right to sit somewhere else.

There's also one poster who really got under my skin a few weeks ago and I came close to posting something I really shouldn't in reply. Ignoring them has made the forum a much healthier place for me.
 
I'm pretty sure I'm on one prominent posters ignore list because I complained about them posting a lot of duplicate threads 3 years ago 😂

Either that or they've just been willfully scrolling past all my comments and threads ever since.

You’d think so, but when posters on here encounter facts that make them feel uncomfortable and they can’t counteract them with any sensible arguments of their own, they call for bans and thread deletions, and that is mainly from the board’s ‘big hitters’ who seem to pride themselves on being rational, when they are anything but.
 
Many folk feel passionately about certain topics and others have polar opposite viewpoints on those same topics.
Leads to heated debates sometimes and many of us have overstepped the mark, myself certainly included, but I would never put a poster on 'ignore'.
You're not forced to open a thread, or respond for that matter.
It's just a Forum with many different characters who have many differing views on life/sport/politics etc.
