India v England - 1st Test

India are going to have a 200 plus lead - just hope England can make a fist of the second innings otherwise we are looking at another 3 day test

So called Test Match quality slow bowlers hoying down full tossers and half yackers.......
I get being beaten by top class batting but when they don't have to try it's galling.

Lacking match practice..the preparation for this has been woeful.

10 overs now. It's a spinners pitch is the reason I guess. Nothing for the pacers
I didn't see any of it yesterday but even if the pitch doesn't suit him, you would have thought he might have been used just to mix the bowling up a bit and make the batsmen think. It doesn't look like the spinning has been working.

Saying that they seem to be dealing with Wood well

England’s lack of quality spinners being highlighted here. It was always going to be a tall order for them. Doesn’t fill you with much confidence for the rest of the series, as not many alternatives apart from the young Somerset guy, Bashir. Moeen might have made a small difference but not much.

Same problem england have usually always had playing in the sub continent , expecially india

Pace bowlers are usually useless after the first day or so and your totally reliant on spinners

English county cricket is completely unsuitable for spinners to develop because of the pitches, and only really become semi useful in the late
summer when the pitches become more conducive to spin

We produce good spinners once n a blue moon, india have dozens of them

I know I am sounding like a broken record but there are no countries producing spinners good enough to compete on Indian pitches.

If you turn up in India a couple of days before test starts and have no time to get any serious time on surfaces then surely writing off the first test is a given.

I know he's pretty experienced, but Nathan Lyon hasn't done too bad out there.
Indeed. But he’s not won them any series, and to win a series there you probably need 2-3 good spinners, all at once, all of Lyon’s level (and more than 1-2 decent batsmen!).
