Is Ingleby Barwick a 'town'?

I used to share a flat with a Thornaby lad (RIP) and he talked about Barwick Farm (pronounced Barrick) when he was a kid.

It's part of Thornaby, in the same way that High Grange and Low Grange are part of Billingham.

I would say it’s more of a stain on the landscape than anything else

As much as the good folk in Ingleby would have you believe they live in an annex of Yarm and thereby North Yorkshire or the north riding, it’s really a housing estate in Thornaby at the end of the day.

I live in Hutton Rudby, now that is a village in North Yorkshire. Don’t want to be associated with that lot over in ingleby Barwick!

Not so sure about the second safest small town in North Yorkshire or the utopia you describe.

Wasn't a guy recently killed by being run over by a van, a doctor had his house searched in a suspected poisoning case, issues with cannabis abuse in Romano Park from youths lighting fires and threatening members of the public, nuisance off-road bikes/e-bikes, gangs hanging outside the local shops

When I was a kid, me and my mate used to hang around IB (he lived there) trying to spot Boro players. We knew where TLF lived, and we also used to see Higgy’s “H19 NET” number plate regularly. There were others too.

It definitely felt quite posh in them days. I’ve hardly spent any time there in recent years though, other than one visit to a restaurant (Uno Momento perhaps?).
