Lad seems to be getting rave reviews, wi he be involved with the first team squad , is he good enough yet?
Anyone seen him play that ca give an update on the lad?
Impressive to see more coming through the Academy, well done to MFC and all involved.
C'mon Boro

Would be good to have another homegrown midfielder and save on a transfer fee, so hopefully so, but it's still only pre-season and I feel like we often get a few academy players that seem to stand out in pre-season and then drop off the face of the earth.

That could perhaps be due to the manager/head coaches we have had before not trusting the young players once the real stuff starts.

Carrick has shown that he is prepared to give players a bit of time which will hopefully see a few more than usual emerge into good players at this level.

The Hackney case was a real eye opener. I wonder what level he would be playing at now if wilder hadn't got sacked? Just shows the luck that players need to break through at clubs.

High hopes for Jack. Very talented young man with a level head and from a great family which will help to keep him grounded. If the club think a loan move is the best option then fair enough, but I've got my fingers crossed that he gets some game time for the first team this season.

I suspect that he might have been released on a free or sold for a pittance and no one would have really known who he was. I think most of us love Leo Perkovic for many reasons, but hats off to him for giving Hackney a real chance in those 3 or 4 games that he was in charge.

Woodgate also deserves credit. He was involving Hackney in the first-team environment at 16 and 17 years old. He knew how talented he was. This is exactly why it’s imperative you have a manager and coaching staff who buy into the youth set-up and are willing to invest time in developing players. Carrick has been a breath of fresh air in this respect. Well all respects really but the youth team is such an important part of the Boro’s history and identity. You can’t have a Boro manager who doesn’t buy into it IMO.

Can we get a link to these rave reviews?

I’ve heard nothing

Largely Neil Maddison and Mark Drury on the BBC Tees coverage, I think.

Maddison has a job in the academy, so I suspect he may be slightly biased when it comes to these things.
