Is this Hoolio?

There are Sunderland fans in Billingham but riddled it is definitely not. The Sunderland fans I know in Billingham are either Mackems, or have direct family links to Sunderland.

Billingham is a Boro town.

Fair enough but all the Mackem fans I know from Billingham all have Teesside accents etc and all the boro fans I know have moved there from other areas of Teesside.

Not arguing with your comment that’s just my experience and why I’ve held that belief. I do admit that I’ve spent very little time actually in billog and have never been drinking there etc.

Glad it is a Boro town, it should be.

I’m from Stockton and live in Billingham now and can confirm it’s a Boro town. Buses on from most pubs to the games on a match day. Each pub full of Boro fans

I live in Billingham so say with direct experience. I know more plastic Liverpool fans in Billingham than Sunderland.

As Diego says, Billingham pubs have Boro buses. I know a few who were at the game yesterday and go to Boro games home and away. I’m a season ticket holder with my son and know others the same.

Fair do’s lads, my apologies, I’ve always thought that but happy to be corrected. I shall refrain from judging the kingdom of Billog so harshly in the future. UTBILLINGHAM

I think the balance has changed a bit since the 1970s - Some Mackems moved to Billingham in the 1950s and 1960s for work as the Durham coal mines away from the coast closed down. Obviously since the 1980s job opportunities on Teesside have declined, so not many people come to the area for work. Another issue is the decline of the status of Sunderland AFC. In the 1930s they were said to be the richest club in England and they were winning trophies. Since 1973 they have declined, playing most of their football outside the the top league.

Absolute horse****

I’ve never once met a sunlun fan in Stockton.
Me neither. I've only been around there 40 years, though. A few Liverpool and Man Utd, but not a single Sunderland supporter. Sorry Mountain Climber, but you're talking drivel. Perhaps you should apply for a job with TASS?

plenty of Sunderland fans in billingham, still see some of them home and away, Always picked plenty up at Billingham Friday nights for the London and southern away games back in the days, decent lads.

They used to go in then pub on the old A19, or that pub on the estate where the golf course is, although both them pubs maybe shut now

The Swan and The Wynyard. Yes there's a few of them kicking about but I think the numbers are dwindling with younger generation lads going to the Boro with their mates. I know a lot of them well, being at school, pub etc with them growing up

They used to have a bus up to home games, not sure there is one now.

They used to bang on about that bus all the time on the three legends especially Eric.
