Just Stop

What an angry nation of people we are. Protesters block a road and immediately you get complete aggy losers going mental. Pushing people around, trying to run people over. You won't die just because you're 5/10/20/60 minutes late for wherever you're going. Chill out weirdos.
You might, if the place you are going as a hospital

Why not blockade high profile people or the people who make the political decisions - such as the PM and his convoy of police that scoot around London like they own the place. But no, they block normal people, trying to earn a living, or going to a doctors appointment, or taking their kids to school - many of whom probably already agree with much of what they stand for but whom are not in a position to do anything substantial about it.
Exactly this.

The stuff they generally get up to is rank poor targeting, dreadful organisation and planning. The media should stop reporting on their current japes and rank stupidity. All they do in the way they do it makes me feel like I want to buy a bigger engined Diesel car just to pish them off.

This is going to be controversial. What if one person gets blocked and doesn’t make it to hospital and dies, but the actions of just oil enforce government to change their policy and it means it saves millions of lives in the future.

I would imagine the ones pushing or driving on the pavement done believe in climate, could be wrong just a hunch though

Tell that to the occasional heart attack patient in an ambulance stuck in traffic. Or a cancer patient on his way for chemo or surgery, oh yeah sorry, the right to protest trumps everything!!!!

Just stop oil...

You might as well say, just stop civilization because that is honestly what it entails.

I support the right to protest but as has been said these people are targeting the wrong people.

I'd be much more inclined to support 'Just stop private jets'.

What's worse, the people running the just stop oil campaign love to jet off in holiday to far flung escapes.

I think this is the crux of the matter isn’t it? Just stop oil is a pithy slogan and a noble goal, but it’s impossible to do with removing pretty much every advancement we have made since before the Industrial Revolution and removing things we find as necessities now such as vehicles, the internet, phones, most medicines, most modern houses…

Lets be honest, nobody in that video is kicking off the way they are because they're so worried about an ambulance.

Why don't you all get rid of your cars altogether? You might be in an ambulances way one day.

That makes no sense

or if you lose your job because you are late - who knows the individual circumstances of the people they are creating an inconvenience for.

Most people in cars get out of the way so ambulances can pass.

Even if we ignore that, get rid of cars and the majority of the population can’t get to work. So won’t be paying any tax or
National insurance, with that kind of drop in tax revenue not a chance in hell the NHS would still exist. But then it’s a stupid argument full of what ifs, exactly like your point.

If thats what your workplace is like you should look for a new job Redka (y) sounds awful.

What makes you think a bunch of mild mannered hippy protesters - who don't even raise the voices at a guy running around aggressively pushing them - wouldn't move for an ambulance?

But then it’s a stupid argument full of what ifs, exactly like your point.

Obviously :ROFLMAO: hence me saying it in reply to all the "wHaT iF tHeReS aN aMbUlAnCe?" posts.

How does the ambulance get through the gridlock in the first place to see if these clowns will move out of the way.

Stu come on man, you're great in political threads. Your responses here are making me question everything good you say on those. 😂

people who are to be commended for making a difference to how we treat this planet are the likes of the wwf and legends like David Attenborough . They have changed this planet for the better

Conversely, all these far left middle class ***** have achieved is make people more supportive of the government tightening protest laws . There’s a reason the likes of Attenborough distances themselves from them

I think disrupting traffic etc is always going to result in huge divisiveness and an array of reactions, including some like this one. They surely know everybody isn’t going to just start applauding them, and they are comfortable with that.

People feel victimised because they feel personally affected when they have their freedom taken away by a group of protestors, even if they support the cause as a whole. Some may, some may not.

My only musing on this really is that JSO need to think of some better ways to get people onside, or they could end up doing much more harm than good.

Will they even see the ambulances if they are stuck behind loads of other vehicles. You know the ones they are blocking and sat on the bonnet of stopping them being able to get out of the way of the ambulances needing to get past.
