Kieran Scott’s recruitment really coming to fruition now

Someone mentioned earlier in the thread who could we have realistically brought in who would have improved us, every time I've seen the lad philogene from Hull I've been very impressed, I think given his Aston Villa background he could have been someone we looked to bring in,I know he went for a reasonable sum but we have made a fair bit in previous seasons with sales with the likes of Chuba,Tav,Spence ect
I agree he would have been a sensible buy, but it appeared we didn't have the funds for him and Latte Lath. Its the dilemma of quite a limited budget.

The Club has a annual trading loss on its normal activities i.e. it can't pay the wages bill from its day to day revenue (ticket sales, TV money, commercial money). Probably in the region of £12m loss a year (ignoring Covid). I know posters will turn round ands say Hull can afford it, but personally I don't think they can see earlier posts on this.

Everybody has their beliefs. My ‘musings’ are approximations, I said “I think from where we were 4 years ago we have improved quality”. I THINK, not I KNOW. No absolutes, no facts, you don’t have to be a nob every day you know.

- You were wrong to say I said this is some kind of fact
- You were playing the man not the ball because you haven’t actually refuted any specifics, or added any flesh on the bones why you don’t agree with it, just that I’m wrong and you are right. 🙄

You’re just being a curmudgeonous, cantankerous, arrogant plank, which is why you’re blocked. I like to talk and debate footy, I like when someone has strong conflicting opinions and we can challenge each other, and learn something, challenge our own perceptions, but it should be done without the utter contempt you hold for anyone with an opposing opinion.

Anyway, enough, back on block, you’ve had an opportunity to offer some pearls of wisdom, and you’ve just offered attitude, nothing worth listening to I’m afraid.
Oh no that’s me ruined, again.
Imagine being blocked, again, by Mart.

How do you ever know what I post if you always have me blocked?

it's been quoted anywhere between 1m and 4m. Bu that seems ludicrous, so I'd guess closer to the 1m mark though. the club say it was good money for a player his age, which is why they agreed to let him leave. It'll have freed a bit of wages too.
Dom shaw mentioned on his podcast at the time he'd been told it was between 3-4 million, which does seem a lot

The club used the phrase significant transfer fee. This suggests between 3 and 4 mill may be about right. As low as 1 million probably wouldn't be described as significant.

If we got even 3 for Crooksy the club is not going to turn that down.

whatever it is we have 8m and rising from Rogers, plus the crooks money 1-4m, plus whatever we had left over that we didn't spend from teh last summer when we got priced out of the Tom Cannon move. somewhere around another 3-6m.

We could have anything from 10m-20m budget, probably the lower end of that scale, without selling anyone. Of course we might decide not to spend it all. We know Dijksteel will be off, McNairs wages will be gone, and the loanees will go creating some squad options.

Interest in Glover, Dieng, Rav, Hackney heating up too. But all under good contracts. It's going to be an interesting summer.

Thought it was interesting to hear what Rav has recently said when interviewed. That we are in a position to invest in the summer. Maybe the short term plan with recruitment was to be in the position we now find ourselves in - with money in the bank to make a push in the summer. It's a nice thought and the dots do seem to add up for that scenario to play out.
Caveat that with the fact that Rav has been negotiating a new contract already (along with Hackney), and he will have been told by the higher ups at the club that they promise to invest in the summer to sweeten the deal.

For me, a big part of whether or not the recruitment plan works as per wanted / expected, is if Carrick signs a new deal. I think that will have huge bearing on our ability to pull in the players we want. His standing in the game must be relatively high now with the 'success' he's had so far. Players will want to know if MC is going to be here for the medium term before putting pen to paper. THAT is the biggest challenge for Kieran Scott and his friends right now.

whatever it is we have 8m and rising from Rogers,

We don't know what the add on clauses were, do we?
Regardless, I'd say he's made a promising start working towards meeting them.

While there was nothing to dislike in Rav's comments, I'd be surprised if summer transfer plans are openly shared around the dressing room.

What you think of KS's dealings probably comes down to this question: did you expect them to pay off this season?

It was pretty obvious that some of the signings were longer term, Roger’s, silvera , glover, rav. Untested young players

Ref Crooks fee, I seem to think it was £2.6m - if it was as low as £1m would we have bothered to sell when we could clearly have used him on a regular basis because of so many injuries?

He wanted to leave for the opportunity of playing somewhere different like the MLS. I've also read that it was in the region of £2 - 2.5m.

Something dodgy about the Philogene deal regarding agents fees. I’ll see if I can find where I was reading about it.

I think it was more about the buyback clause, similar to what Villa did with Archer and Ramsey as well… a permanent sale as far as FFP is concerned, but basically just a loan
