Kieran scott

I think its certain that Scott (and his team) will have the majority share when it comes to picking our next coach (rather than manager).

In fact, it's probably the priority that Gibson et al will set for him to work on.

Oh yeah, no doubt. I thought Warnock came across as a little 'prickly' in all honesty in the interviews when Scott was discussed. I know there were a couple of whispers about Doriva and Reiziger and I like that direction. I think it'll be very much Scott's decision.

Had a listen to this the other day which is just from 5 months ago, seems a very professional bloke! hopefully he (and his team) can find a few gems for us.

I'm surprised the speculation who we'll bring in as Head Coach hasn't reached fever pitch. It's hardly been mentioned, apart from a couple of people on One Boro thinking it'll be Bamba. I guess they're putting two and two together!
Bamba is lined up to support the U18s and U23s this year while he gets all his badges. But he'll be nowhere near ready for head coach in 12 months. 12 months youth coaching to first team head coach was too big a leap for Woodgate and would be too big for Bamba. The last time anyone went from no coaching experience to a successful head coach with us was Robson and that was 25+ years ago.

Of course. It was just one or two putting two and two together and coming up with ten I think! I do like the fact that he's here and can help out and pass on his experience but definitely not management material... yet, anyway!

When does Scott start work? Wonder if he knows of any free agent gems
Officially today I think, but I'd imagine he's been having an input ever since he agreed to come.

It's a really exciting move for us this. I've always liked the model of having a role such as his, really implementing a philosophy on the club, instead of just jumping from manager to manager and going along with whatever they want. Scott's record (along with Stuart Webber) at Norwich looks great too.

Hopefully he'll have one eye on recruiting the new boss next summer, and the player recruitment will reflect the new direction and playing philosophy we're trying to implement. I wonder how many of these loans will become permanent?

It wasn't even that we went along from manager to manager, it was the complete contrast in style, it's actually unreal when you think about it.

We went from Mowbray who tried to play nice football to Karanka who was defensive minded, then to Monk who again wanted us to play football, to Pulis who wanted a team of yard dogs. I'd say Woodgate tried to play football even though it was kind of pathetic and then to Warnock who is a few steps away from Pulis. I honestly don't think Warnock would personally have signed some of these players we've been making but hopefully we stick to it and the club buys players for whatever they want our identity to be and then we get managers to match that.

It wouldn't have been half as bad if we'd stuck to a similar type of manager but we went completely the other way every single time.

We played as much good football under AK as we did Mowbray. I can only think of the performance stopping Cardiff winning the league as good under Mowbray, must be more though..
Under AK, I can think of Brighton away, Derby away and at home. Brentford at home, league, Brentford home play offs. City, United cups. Are a few off the top of my head. That goal v Millwall was different class.

I agree but there were still completely different in mentality and type of player they wanted.

Mowbray - bought Dimi, Friend, Ayala, Leadbitter, Adomah, Carayol - great business done.
Karanka - preferred Dimi over Steele and played Varga at right back.
Monk - £15m on Britt Assombalonga and turning down £6m for Rudy Gestede
Pulis - Spent £7m of Flint, £8m on Saville and couldn't get us promoted with the likes of Traore, Braithwaite and Bamford

Woodgate - obviously didn't rate Dijksteel, Bola or Brown as he chucked them in the bin.
Warnock - has had the final clearing out to do left over from Monk and Pulis he's developed young players and picked some bargains.

Kieran Scott is not the messiah, but hopefully he will be there in place to make sure we have no more mad money giveaways.
