Every time a football club loses a few games, you have people on the internet or ringing radio stations demanding someone is sacked. It’s the nature of it now. It’s probably best to avoid this message board until at least Wednesday to be honest, if not the end of the international break. Unless you enjoy people clamouring for football administrators and coaches to be sacked, in which case this place will be like Disneyland.

I’d love to be in your head. Wish I could see that everything is fine. We are bottom of the league with 1 point leaking goal after goal.
It’s a poor start. No one wants Carrick sacked. No one. We want and hope he turns it around. I’m disappointed at the state of the squad he has to work with. It’s too heavy in some areas with a lack of quality and weak in some areas with a severe lack of depth. It just looks and feels poor. Carrick I believe can get the best out of people so I’m hoping these next couple of weeks with the lads ( especially some of the new boys) they start to buy into it and we get a good result against Blackburn.

People had been crying out for a DoF and I always said fine but it’s yet another thing Gibson can (and probably will) get wrong without the financial firepower to attract the best in the business.
The club has been treading water for 15 years and I don’t think its on-field fortunes will tangibly change while the club is financed in the way it currently is. I don’t see anything major changing in the near future so the model of “appoint new manager every other October and hope they come up with something” will continue.
We should probably stop the pretence of “long term plans” etc though, clubs like ours simply can’t afford and don’t have the expertise on board to make them.
Hopefully Carrick turns this around and we get back towards the top 6. I can’t see the point in people calling for managerial changes yet again. It hasn’t worked for us. But I suppose we have nothing else.

I didn’t say everything is fine. We’re 24th from 24. My overall point is things will take time to gel. People need to settle in, learn the patterns and the rhythms and the systems. I just feel there is a sense of hysteria on this message board and elsewhere.
And I think Carrick is probably a victim of his own success in that we flew up the league last season and completely blindsided everyone. Expectations went through the roof and now everything we do is judged against that, despite it being a new season and a dozen new players. You have to give people time to work, to make mistakes and learn from them. Including Carrick. It’s his first job. He needs time and patience.

We saw last season how quick it can turn.
