Klopp - Anfield Crowd

Too many football tourists coming to enjoy the famous atmosphere, without actually contributing the it?
Funny that they are now getting the biggest crowds for years and the atmosphere tanks.

Remember the backlash Karanka received, after he'd criticised our fans following the West Ham game.

It's never a wise move to criticise those who are paying their hard earned money to come and support the team, even if you feel the standard of support isn't quite up to scratch.

I actually think this is a bit of a shrewd move. Arsenals squad are well know for being impacted by intimidating atmosphere. I doubt any proper liverpool fans who attend week in week out will take this as a criticism of them - it’s clearly aimed at tourist fans, who other fans are probably just as annoyed at anyway.

If it’s helps get an extra % and a win, all will be forgotten.

Anfield is by far and away the worst ground in the UK for atmosphere I've witnessed. It's so overrated by the media, it's incredible.

I've been there a few times and I've been to over 50 away grounds and none are as bad as Anfield for atmosphere.

They sing YNWA before KO, and then unless they score a goal, you can hear a pin drop.

Exactly like that when went there in the fa cup quarter final in the 70's.
I'd been led to expect so much more.

The tourist fans are the problem. They are all there to experience the "famous atmosphere" without realising they are supposed to be the ones creating it. Utd is the same. They are the 2 worst grounds I have been to for home team atmosphere.

There is the argument that when I have been they have only been playing Boro which isn't the sort of game that gets the atmosphere going but they should be able to manage some noise across 90 minutes and not just when they are told to at the beginning. I'd guess it is different depending on who they are playing.

I used to play 5aside quite near to Anfield and you'd hear the noise when a goal was scored but for the most part you wouldn't know there was a game on. The only time I heard it consistently loud for the full game was when they played Dortmund and it was the Dortmund fans making all the noise.

The problem with the big clubs is that they expect to win, it's the same if you go to the Riverside when we're playing Barnsley or Burton, atmosphere will be crap. I've been to Old Trafford once as a Boro fan and it was a poor atmosphere but we were a Championship side, hardly going to be rocking is it.

If you go to those stadiums on big European nights it will be very different, you don't get some of the mad results Liverpool have had in Europe without the fans at full pelt.

I think when a team wins 'at a canter', strangely, it's not really exciting. You need that extra bit of jeopardy to get the crowd going. We smashed some teams at home last season and whilst it was most enjoyable it didn't really generate the same type of excitement that you get when the opposition are still in it and you are willing the team on to get another goal/hold on for the win.
